About the Opportunity
HummingBird is hiring an Indirect Procurement Lead on behalf of its client, a leading organization based in Pune.
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Indirect Procurement Lead to manage and lead strategic sourcing initiatives across indirect spend categories. The role will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, driving cost optimization, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring procurement processes deliver maximum value to the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience across indirect procurement categories, excellent negotiation and stakeholder-management skills, and a data-driven approach to procurement.
Key Responsibilities
Indirect Procurement Strategy
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for assigned indirect spend categories.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, spending patterns, and future needs.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier consolidation, and process improvement.
- Develop category strategies aligned with business objectives and procurement goals.
- Establish sourcing plans, timelines, and measurable savings targets.
Strategic Sourcing & Negotiations
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including RFI, RFQ, RFP, bid analysis, supplier selection, and negotiations .
- Conduct market intelligence and supplier benchmarking to identify competitive opportunities.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, SLAs, service levels, and contractual terms.
- Evaluate supplier proposals based on cost, quality, capability, risk, and business requirements.
- Drive competitive bidding and ensure procurement decisions deliver sustainable value.
Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed SLAs, KPIs, pricing, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and develop corrective-action plans where required.
- Identify and mitigate supplier risks.
- Support supplier onboarding, qualification, evaluation, and renewal processes.
Category Management Manage and provide strategic direction across relevant indirect procurement categories such as:

Spend & Savings Management
- Analyze category spend and identify opportunities for savings and value creation.
- Develop and maintain spend-analysis dashboards and procurement reports.
- Track realized and negotiated savings against procurement targets.
- Monitor market trends and cost drivers affecting assigned categories.
- Identify opportunities for demand management and specification optimization.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with senior business stakeholders across Finance, IT, HR, Facilities, Operations, Legal, and other functions.
- Act as a procurement business partner and provide commercial insights to stakeholders.
- Influence stakeholders toward preferred suppliers and procurement processes.
- Ensure stakeholder requirements are balanced with cost, quality, risk, and compliance considerations.
Contract & Procurement Governance
- Partner with Legal and business teams on contract negotiations and renewals.
- Ensure contracts contain appropriate commercial terms, SLAs, KPIs, and risk protections.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies and governance standards.
- Support procurement audits and maintain appropriate sourcing documentation.
Process Improvement & Digital Procurement
- Identify opportunities to automate and simplify procurement processes.
- Drive adoption and effective utilization of procurement technologies.
- Improve procurement cycle times, compliance, supplier performance, and user experience.
- Support procurement transformation and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement,
Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Business Management is preferred.
- 6–10 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, or Supply Chain.
- Solid experience in Indirect Procurement and strategic sourcing.
- Proven experience managing complex sourcing projects and supplier negotiations.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, category management, and supplier management.
- Demonstrated experience in cost reduction and value-delivery initiatives.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and commercial skills.
- Excellent stakeholder-management and communication capabilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and procurement/ERP systems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with procurement platforms such as SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle Procurement , or similar.
- Strong spend-analysis and procurement analytics capabilities.
- Experience with procurement dashboards and tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong contract-management and commercial-negotiation experience.
- Knowledge of procurement risk management and supplier governance.
- Experience managing multiple categories and complex stakeholder groups.
- Exposure to global or multi-location procurement operations.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or CSCP will be an advantage.
- Experience working with a large multinational or Fortune 500 organization is preferred.
