Principal Software Architect

We are seeking a seasoned FCC Software Architect to define and own the end-to-end architecture, technical strategy, and governance of a DO-178C DAL A compliant Flight Control Computer (FCC) software solution for an eVTOL platform. This role demands a leader who will provide architectural leadership for safety-critical embedded software, drive system-level design decisions, and technology direction while ensuring compliance, scalability, maintainability, and successful program execution. The ideal candidate will collaborate across various engineering teams to mentor and establish software architecture best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and govern the FCC software architecture, defining technical strategy, architectural frameworks, and design principles for a DO-178C DAL A compliant solution.
- Provide architectural leadership for critical software capabilities including bootloader, Built-In Test (BIT), redundancy management, autopilot, and platform services.
- Drive the translation of system and allocated requirements into scalable software architectures, interface definitions, and implementation strategies.
- Lead architecture, design, and technical reviews, ensuring architectural integrity, risk management, and timely closure of review actions.
- Establish and enforce software engineering standards, development processes, configuration management practices, and compliance with DO-178C objectives.
- Guide software integration,



technical issue resolution, root-cause investigations, and mitigation of architecture and program-level risks.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, verification, safety, quality, and certification teams, while mentoring engineers and providing architectural governance across the product lifecycle.

Qualification Criteria:
- Proven expertise in defining and governing embedded software architectures, with robust knowledge of Embedded C and real-time software development on RTOS platforms.
- Extensive experience in safety-critical avionics or comparable embedded systems, with a solid understanding of DO-178C software lifecycle processes, compliance activities, and certification artifacts.
- Strong background in software architecture, system decomposition, interface design, integration strategies, debugging, and technical reviews.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, architectural governance, and mentorship across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience translating complex system requirements into scalable, maintainable, and certifiable software architectures.
- Proven track record of driving technical decision-making, risk management, and resolution of complex system-level issues.
