Head of PMO

Role Purpose

Establish and run a central delivery governance function that provides visibility, predictability,

and early risk detection across all projects, enabling Delivery Directors to focus on strategic growth, client relationships, and operational excellence rather than transactional oversight.

Key Responsibilities

- PMO Setup & Governance Framework

- Design and implement the overall PMO operating model
- Establish/Refine governance structure, cadence, and accountability
- Establish/Refine standards for project lifecycle, reviews, and reporting

2. Delivery Intelligence & Predictability
- Define/Refine and track leading and lagging indicators of delivery health
- Establish early warning mechanisms (risk trends, slippages, dependency risks)
- Create/Refine standardized RAG criteria and health definitions
- Ensure predictability across schedule, scope, quality, and capacity

3. Data-Driven Decision Enablement
- Build a single source of truth for delivery data (over a period of time)
- Translate raw data into insights for leadership decision-making
- Ensure dashboards focus on actionable intelligence, not raw metrics
- Enable scenario-based visibility (what’s at risk, what needs intervention)

4. PMO Structure, Tools & Processes
- Design PMO org structure, roles, and responsibilities
- Select and/or optimize tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Power BI, etc.)
- Automate data collection and reporting wherever possible
- Define standard templates, cadence, and reporting mechanisms

5. Delivery Risk & Governance
- Check effective Risk & Issue management practices across projects
- Ensure Delivery governance reviews and actions are followed through
- Bring delivery health and key risks view to delivery leadership




- Facilitate RCA and common learnings for continuous improvement

6. Capability Enablement
- Provide guidance and enablement to Project Managers on governance, planning, and

execution standards, ensuring consistency in delivery.
- Leadership Engagement

- Act as a trusted partner to Delivery Directors / Head and leadership team
- Present insights, trends, and recommendations at leadership forums
- Enable leadership to focus on strategy, not operational firefighting

Must-Have Skills & Experience

Experience

- 12–18+ years in delivery, program management and PMO leadership
- Proven experience setting up or transforming PMO functions
- Strong exposure to complex, multi-project delivery environments
- Experience working closely with senior leadership

Core Competencies
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
- Deep understanding of delivery lifecycle and governance
- Ability to design scalable frameworks and operating models
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making capability

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in large services or product engineering organizations
- Familiarity with Agile / Hybrid delivery environments
- Hands-on experience with tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, Power BI
- Exposure to portfolio management and financial tracking
- Change management or transformation experience
