Piping Engineer – Oil & Gas / EPC ( Mulund, Mumbai )
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Piping Engineer with strong experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, EPC and Engineering Consultancy projects. The role involves piping engineering, design development, technical review, interdisciplinary coordination and support throughout FEED, detailed engineering, construction and project close-out.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with ASME B31.3, P&ID; review, piping layouts, piping material specifications, piping classes, line lists, isometrics, MTOs, 3D model reviews and piping stress coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project scope, design basis, client specifications and applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare and review Piping Design Basis, Piping Material Specifications (PMS) and Valve Material Specifications.
- Develop and review P&IDs;, equipment layouts, plot plans and piping layouts.
- Prepare and maintain line lists, tie-in lists, valve lists and special-item lists.
- Perform pipe sizing and select appropriate piping materials, pressure classes and corrosion allowances.
- Prepare piping material requisitions, technical specifications and material take-offs (MTO).
- Review piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings and piping support drawings.
- Identify stress-critical lines and coordinate with the Piping Stress Engineering team.
- Review stress-analysis reports, nozzle loads, support requirements and flexibility recommendations.
- Coordinate equipment nozzle orientation and piping interface requirements.
- Review piping arrangements for pumps, compressors, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers and packaged equipment.
- Ensure piping layouts comply with operational, maintenance, safety, accessibility and constructability requirements.
- Perform piping studies for pipe racks, process units, tank farms, utilities, loading/unloading facilities and offsites.
- Develop tie-in philosophy and coordinate brownfield modifications, shutdown requirements and site interfaces.
- Review vendor drawings and documents for piping-related interfaces.
- Prepare technical bid evaluations and respond to vendor technical queries.
- Participate in 3D model reviews at 30%, 60% and 90% stages.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, constructability and interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Pipeline, Electrical, Instrumentation, HSE and Project teams.
- Check piping deliverables for compliance with project specifications, quality requirements and project schedules.
- Resolve site queries, technical queries and construction-related piping issues.
- Support preparation of as-built drawings and project close-out documentation.

Preferred Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
Relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical or EPC projects.
Robust understanding of piping engineering practices, applicable codes and project specifications.
Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Ability to independently review engineering deliverables and resolve technical issues.
Strong communication, coordination and technical documentation skills.
