Job Title: Physical & Health Education Teacher

(Experienced in Basket ball / Football / Athletics)

1. Teaching & Curriculum Development:

- Develop and deliver basketball-related lessons and activities as part of the Physical Education curriculum for students (ranging from Primary to Secondary, depending on the school).
- Teach fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
- Adapt and implement the IB Physical and Health Education curriculum framework, ensuring it aligns with the school's ethos and the IB philosophy (including the focus on inquiry-based learning, global perspectives, and holistic development).
- Plan engaging and differentiated lessons to cater to diverse learning abilities and athletic skills.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

2. Coaching and Extracurricular Activities:

- Organize and coach the school's basketball teams for various age groups, preparing them for inter-school tournaments and competitions.
- Lead basketball training sessions, focusing on skill development, fitness, and tactical understanding.
- Supervise and mentor students during practice sessions, competitions, and travel for tournaments.
- Encourage student-athletes to develop leadership, resilience, and discipline both on and off the court.

3. Assessment and Reporting:

- Assess students' performance in basketball through both formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, skill development, and athletic performance.




- Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate with parents/guardians regarding academic and athletic progress.
- Contribute to the school's reporting process, particularly in relation to Physical Education and sports achievements.

4. Collaboration & School Culture:

- Collaborate with other PHE teachers to integrate basketball and sports-related content into broader school initiatives and interdisciplinary projects.
- Act as a positive role model for students, promoting a healthy lifestyle, respect for others, and a balanced approach to academics, sports, and well-being.
- Contribute to school events and activities that promote physical health, wellness, and community building.
- Support the development of school spirit and sportsmanship among students, faculty, and staff.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

- A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Experience playing and/or coaching basketball.
- Certification or training in coaching basketball is preferred.
- Teaching experience, ideally in an IB or international school setting, with a focus on inquiry-based learning.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to develop and implement a variety of teaching strategies for diverse learners, especially in terms of physical and athletic development.
- Passion for sports, physical fitness, and helping students improve both physically and mentally.
