1. Job Purpose
To ensure the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medicines to patients as per valid prescriptions, while maintaining proper inventory, storage, documentation, and compliance with applicable pharmacy and hospital regulations.
1. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and verify prescriptions from doctors before dispensing medicines.
- Dispense medicines accurately according to prescribed dosage and instructions.
- Explain medication usage, dosage, timing, precautions, and storage requirements to patients when required.
- Check medicine name, strength, quantity, expiry date, batch number, and packaging before dispensing.
- Ensure proper storage of medicines according to manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain adequate stock levels and monitor fast-moving, slow-moving, and critical medicines.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and reconcile stock with records/system.
- Monitor expiry and near-expiry medicines and take appropriate action.
- Maintain records for controlled, restricted, and high-alert medicines as applicable.
- Prepare and maintain pharmacy registers, issue records, purchase records, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, stores, purchase, billing, and other hospital departments regarding medication requirements.
- Ensure medicines are issued only against authorized prescriptions/indent requests.
- Follow hospital policies, infection-control practices, medication-safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Identify and report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, or discrepancies to the concerned authority.
- Handle returned, damaged, recalled,
or expired medicines according to hospital procedures.
- Assist during internal/external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the pharmacy area.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and proper handling of medical/prescription information.
- Perform other pharmacy-related duties assigned by the management.
1. Qualifications
- D.Pharm / B.Pharm from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the applicable State Pharmacy Council.
- Relevant hospital/retail pharmacy experience is preferred.
1. Skills & Competencies
- Positive knowledge of medicines and prescriptions.
- Accurate dispensing and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of pharmacy inventory management.
- Basic computer and pharmacy software skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with doctors, nurses, patients, and other staff.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including weekends/holidays when required.
- Commitment to patient safety and ethical pharmacy practice.

- Hospital/clinical pharmacy environment.
- May involve rotational shifts, weekends, and emergency duty.
- Regular interaction with patients, doctors, nurses, and hospital departments.
- Responsible for handling and storing medicines safely.
Pay: From ₹15,000.00 per month
