Job Purpose To ensure safe, accurate and efficient dispensing of medicines while providing excellent customer service and supporting the overall sales and growth of the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities 1. Prescription & Medicine Dispensing - Dispense medicines accurately as per valid prescriptions.
- Check medicine name, strength, dosage, quantity and expiry before dispensing.
- Explain dosage, timing and basic usage instructions to customers.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of medicines. 2.
Customer
Service - Attend customers politely and professionally.
- Understand customer requirements and guide them regarding available medicines and wellness products.
- Promote generic medicines and affordable alternatives wherever legally and professionally appropriate.
- Build long-term relationships with regular/chronic patients. 3.
Pharmacy
Operations - Maintain proper arrangement of medicines according to categories.
- Monitor stock levels and immediately report fast-moving, unavailable and low-stock medicines.
- Ensure proper expiry management and prevent expiry-related losses.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the pharmacy.
- Follow all company SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Billing & Documentation - Generate accurate bills for every sale.
- Ensure no medicine is issued without proper billing.
- Maintain prescription records and required registers.
- Handle cash/UPI/card transactions accurately.
- Report any cash or billing mismatch immediately.
- Sales & Business Growth - Support achievement of monthly sales targets.
- Promote company wellness products and approved offers.
- Inform customers about relevant health and wellness products without making inappropriate medical claims.
- Encourage repeat purchases and customer retention.
- Support health camps, patient surveys and other pharmacy growth activities when required. 6.
Stock
Management - Check incoming stock and ensure correct quantity and products are received.
- Identify damaged, short, excess or incorrect stock.
- Maintain proper stock rotation using FEFO (First Expiry, First Out).
- Coordinate with the warehouse/distributor for unavailable medicines.
Required Skills &
Qualifications - D.Pharm / B.Pharm from a recognized institution.
- Valid pharmacist registration as applicable.
- Good knowledge of medicines, prescriptions and pharmacy practices.
- Good communication and customer-handling skills.
- Basic computer/billing software knowledge.
- Ability to work responsibly in a retail pharmacy environment.
- Sales-oriented and willing to learn about generic medicines and wellness products.
