Role Description The Perfumer will be responsible for developing, refining, and evaluating fragrance compositions for various product lines, including personal care and fine fragrances. Day-to-day tasks include conducting olfactory evaluations, selecting and balancing aroma ingredients, collaborating with R&D; and quality teams on formulation stability and compliance, and adapting fragrances to meet client and market requirements. The role also involves supporting customer presentations, providing fragrance recommendations to the sales team, and ensuring consistency and quality in all fragrance batches produced.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai,
requiring close collaboration with internal stakeholders and hands-on work in the laboratory and evaluation rooms.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and client interaction skills, with the ability to understand and translate customer preferences into fragrance concepts.
- Experience in quality control and sensory evaluation, ensuring fragrance consistency, safety, and adherence to internal and industry standards.
- Background in research and development (R&D;), including formulation, stability testing, and innovation in fragrance and aroma chemistry.
- Familiarity with sales support, including presenting fragrances, explaining technical features, and partnering with sales teams on product positioning.
- Knowledge of personal care products and their fragrance requirements, including compatibility with bases and regulatory considerations.
- Relevant education in chemistry, cosmetic science, perfumery, or a related field; formal perfumery training or certification is an advantage.
- Strong sense of smell, olfactory memory, and attention to detail, with the ability to work methodically in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to work in office in Mumbai, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
