Medark Hospital is looking for a skilled and responsible OT Technician to join our Operation Theatre team. The candidate will be responsible for assisting surgeons, anaesthetists and nursing staff in maintaining safe, effective and infection-controlled OT operations.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in OT preparation, surgical assistance, sterilization protocols, instrument handling and post-operative OT procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the Operation Theatre before scheduled procedures.
- Ensure availability and readiness of surgical instruments, equipment, implants and consumables.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures.
- Perform proper handling, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of OT instruments.
- Maintain OT asepsis and follow infection-control protocols strictly.
- Check OT equipment before procedures and report any malfunction immediately.
- Assist with patient positioning, shifting and preparation as required.
- Maintain proper counts of instruments, needles, gauze and other surgical items.
- Ensure proper documentation of OT procedures and consumable usage.
- Coordinate with OT nurses, surgeons, anaesthesia team, CSSD, housekeeping and other departments.
- Ensure adequate stock of OT consumables and inform the concerned person about shortages.
- Follow biomedical waste management and hospital safety protocols.
- Assist in maintaining OT readiness between procedures.
- Participate in emergency and urgent surgical procedures when required.
- Maintain cleanliness, discipline and professional standards inside the OT.
- Follow hospital SOPs and instructions of the OT In-charge/Manager.
Required Qualifications
- DOTT / B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology / Diploma in OT Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a hospital OT preferred.
- Candidates with experience in general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology, laparoscopy or emergency surgeries will be preferred.
- Good knowledge of surgical instruments and OT procedures.
- Knowledge of sterilization and infection-control practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and during emergency procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
