We are looking for a skilled and patient-focused Optometrist to join our clinical team. The Optometrist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, performing diagnostic tests, assisting ophthalmologists in patient care, and ensuring a high standard of clinical service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assess visual acuity.
- Perform refraction, subjective and objective assessments, and prescribe spectacles/contact lenses as appropriate.
- Carry out preliminary and diagnostic eye tests as per clinical protocols.
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient consultations, investigations, and procedures.
- Identify ocular abnormalities and appropriately refer patients to the ophthalmologist for further evaluation.
- Educate patients regarding eye health, vision correction, contact lens care, and preventive eye care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely documentation.
- Operate and maintain optometry and diagnostic equipment as per standard protocols.
- Provide courteous, skilled, and patient-centric care.
- Follow the organisation's clinical, safety, infection-control, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, technicians, and front-office teams to ensure smooth patient flow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Optometry (B.Optom / equivalent) from a recognised institution.
- Valid registration/licence as applicable.
- Good knowledge of optometric examination procedures and ophthalmic diagnostics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
Preferred Skills
- Clinical experience in an ophthalmology/eye-care hospital or clinic.
- Experience with pre-operative and post-operative eye-care assessments.
- Familiarity with modern optometry and ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
- Strong patient counselling and customer-service skills.
- Good computer and documentation skills.
