Engineer - R&D; (Fans)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Research & Development team to lead the design and development of innovative ceiling fans. You will be responsible for taking products from ideation to mass production, adhering to a structured Stage-Gate process, ensuring high-quality aesthetics, performance, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

- NPD Stage-Gate Management: Lead technical design efforts through all phasesConcept, Feasibility, Development, Validation, and Launchensuring stage-gate deliverables are met on time.
- Mechanical Design (3D/2D): Create 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, assemblies, and BOMs (Bill of Materials) for fans, motors, blade assemblies, and housings using SolidWorks.
- Prototyping & Testing: Coordinate prototype development, 3D printing, and testing of new designs for air delivery (CFM), power efficiency (BLDC), noise reduction, and structural integrity.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFA): Apply GD&T; principles and DFM/DFA techniques for casting, sheet metal, and plastic molding components to reduce costs and ease assembly.




- Validation & Compliance: Conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify risks, and validate product safety/performance against regulatory standards (e.g., BEE, BIS).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing (styling), Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering (PCB), Toolroom, and Purchasing teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Vendor Coordination: Work with suppliers for tooling development, sample approvals, and vendor process validations (APQP/PPAP).

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in product development, specifically in home appliances or consumer durable goods.
- CAD Skills: Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, surface modelling, 2D drafting).
- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of motor mechanics, injection moulding, sheet metal design, and air dynamics.
- Process Knowledge: Experience working within an ERP system (e.g., SAP, Windchill) and familiarity with Stage-Gate NPD processes
