We are sourcing for a leading India-based technology consultancy that builds and deploys engineering teams for client engagements across the US, Canada and EU markets. This is a full-time role, worked remotely from India on an international client engagement.

About the Role

This is the most senior QA role on the team. You will own our automation strategy end to end the framework, the coverage, the CI integration, and the standards the rest of the QA team works to. If our pipeline is red, you are the person who knows whether it is a real bug or a flaky test, and why.

What You Will Do

- Own the design and evolution of our Playwright automation framework structure, reusability, test data strategy and reporting.
- Build and maintain end-to-end, regression, integration and API test suites in TypeScript.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD so that every merge is gated on a suite the team actually trusts.
- Attack flakiness systematically diagnose failures, fix root causes, and keep the suite rapid enough that nobody is tempted to skip it.
- Define what gets automated and what does not, and grow coverage on the areas that carry real business risk.
- Mentor QA engineers moving from manual into automation,



and run code reviews on test code to the same standard as product code.
- Report on quality to engineering and product leadership — coverage, escape rate, cycle time and release risk.

What We Are Looking For

- 6–10 years in QA, with substantial hands-on automation ownership rather than script maintenance alone.
- Strong Playwright experience — or deep Cypress/Selenium expertise with a clear, demonstrable move into Playwright.
- Confident JavaScript / TypeScript — you write test code that a developer would be happy to review.
- Framework design experience — you have built or substantially rebuilt an automation framework, and can explain the trade-offs you chose.
- CI/CD integration with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps, including parallelisation and reporting.
- API testing and SQL — validating services and data directly, using Postman, REST clients or code.
- Remote technical leadership — mentoring, setting standards and influencing engineers who do not report to you, largely in writing.

Bonus Points

- Performance testing (k6, JMeter) or security testing fundamentals.
- Containerised test execution with Docker, or running suites on a device/browser grid.
- Visual regression, contract testing, or shift-left practices such as testing in the pull request.
- Mobile automation with Appium, or accessibility testing.
- Experience defining a QA strategy for a whole product or organisation.
