URGENT HIRING | Japanese Interpreter

Location: Andhra Pradesh

Experience: 3–5 years

CTC: Up to ₹10 lakh per annum

Qualification: Any degree; B.E. in Mechanical Engineering preferred

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Layam is hiring a Japanese Interpreter for a reputed client organisation in Andhra Pradesh.

This role supports communication between Japanese and local teams across business discussions, management meetings, training sessions and site activities. You will help participants understand the intended meaning, context and terminology of each conversation, enabling them to work together effectively.

We are looking for a professional who combines strong Japanese and English language skills with careful listening, cultural awareness and sound judgement. Accuracy, discretion and neutrality are central to this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Japanese–English interpretation

• Provide accurate verbal interpretation between Japanese and English during meetings, discussions and telephone or video calls.
- Deliver simultaneous or consecutive interpretation according to the needs of the discussion.
- Preserve the speaker’s intended meaning, tone and context without adding personal opinions or changing the message.
- Interpret technical, HR, legal and business terminology accurately.

1. Business meetings and training support

• Assist with communication during management meetings, client discussions and training programmes.
- Help participants follow discussions clearly, particularly where technical language or cultural differences may affect understanding.




- Review meeting agendas, background information and relevant terminology in advance.
- Participate punctually and maintain professional conduct throughout each assignment.

1. Document and written communication support

• Help Japanese and local teams understand emails, notices, reports, policies and other official communications.
- Carry out written translation when required or coordinate the translation of documents.
- Pay close attention to terminology and context so that written communications retain their intended meaning.

1. Cultural coordination

• Support effective working relationships between Japanese and local teams.
- Explain relevant aspects of Japanese business culture, etiquette and communication styles.
- Help prevent misunderstandings arising from language differences or cultural expectations.
- Remain respectful and impartial when supporting communication between stakeholders.

1. Factory visits and on-site activities

• Provide interpretation support during factory tours, site visits and other operational activities.
- Assist Japanese delegations during business visits and official travel, as required.




- Support coordination and communication between visiting delegates and local teams.

1. Confidentiality and professional ethics

• Maintain strict confidentiality of company, client and employee information encountered during assignments.
- Handle sensitive conversations and documents with discretion.
- Remain neutral and communicate information faithfully without introducing personal views.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- A degree in any discipline is acceptable.
- B.E. in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, but is not mandatory.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in Japanese interpretation.
- Solid spoken Japanese and English, with the ability to support written communication and translation.
- Familiarity with Japanese business etiquette and communication practices.
- The ability to understand and prepare terminology for technical and business discussions.
