The foundation builds a vibrant startup ecosystem by supporting idea validation, product development, and venture creation for students, faculty, and early-stage entrepreneurs.

Backed by robust academic and research capabilities, SMIIF offers pre-incubation support, mentorship, funding access, and industry collaborations. It emphasizes design thinking, frugal innovation, sustainability, and social impact, serving as a hub for interdisciplinary innovation. Specialized labs and innovation cells focus on sectors such as electric mobility, agritech, AI/ML, and renewable energy, creating diverse opportunities for experimentation and growth.

Role Description The Incubation Associate is a full-time, on-site role based in Tamil Nadu, India, responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the innovation and incubation programs. This role involves coordinating with incubatees, mentors, and industry partners, scheduling sessions, maintaining incubation records, and tracking startup progress.

Associate will assist in organizing workshops, hackathons, pitch events, and outreach activities to attract and engage potential innovators and startups. The role includes supporting idea evaluation,



basic market research, documentation of proposals, and facilitating access to labs, resources, and funding opportunities.

Associate will also contribute to communication materials, reports, and presentations, and help ensure smooth functioning of the foundation’s facilities and activities.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in communication, presentation, and stakeholder coordination to work effectively with students, faculty, entrepreneurs, and external partners.
- Ability to conduct basic market research, analyze startup needs, and assist with documentation, reports, and proposal writing.
- Organizational and event management skills to plan and execute workshops, mentorship sessions, competitions, and networking events.
- Interest or foundational knowledge in innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies such as electric mobility, agritech, AI/ML, or renewable energy.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentations) and comfort with digital collaboration platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, management, or a related field; prior experience in startup ecosystems, incubation centers, or student entrepreneurship initiatives is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment with a focus on sustainability and social impact.
