ABOUT SAARTHI TRUST

Saarthi Trust is a registered nonprofit organisation working across Uttarakhand in areas including education, environmental initiatives, plantation, cleanliness, community development and mental well-being.

As Saarthi Trust approaches its first year of work, we are entering an important stage of organisational development. Our field work and team are active, and we are now looking to strengthen our institutional partnerships, CSR engagement, donor network, project development and overall growth.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Saarthi Trust is looking for a Head of Development who wants to play an active role in building the next stage of the organisation.

This is not a conventional 9-to-5 role. It is a practical, dynamic and responsibility-driven position for someone who wants to understand how a nonprofit organisation grows and is willing to actively create opportunities for it.

The Head of Development will work closely with the leadership of Saarthi Trust and will be responsible for developing relationships, identifying opportunities and building partnerships that are aligned with the organisation’s vision, mission and values.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Head of Development will be responsible for:

- Developing and maintaining relationships with CSR teams, corporates, donors, foundations, government organisations, educational institutions and other potential partners.
- Identifying organisations and institutions whose priorities align with Saarthi Trust’s projects and areas of work.
- Connecting suitable Saarthi Trust projects with relevant funding, CSR and collaboration opportunities.
- Developing and strengthening Saarthi Trust’s CSR and institutional partnership network.
- Exploring grant, donor, government and project-based funding opportunities.
- Preparing and coordinating proposals, concept notes, presentations, budgets and partnership documents.
- Presenting Saarthi Trust’s vision, mission, values, field work and community impact to potential partners.
- Ensuring that proposed collaborations remain aligned with Saarthi Trust’s objectives, values and ethical principles.
- Building long-term relationships with partners rather than focusing only on one-time financial support.
- Representing Saarthi Trust in relevant meetings,



networking opportunities and institutional discussions.
- Working closely with the field team to understand ongoing work and convert suitable initiatives into structured and impactful project proposals.
- Taking opportunities forward from initial identification and communication through proposal development, partnership discussions and project initiation.
- Maintaining an organised database of potential partners, donors, CSR organisations and institutional contacts.
- Identifying new opportunities for expanding Saarthi Trust’s programmes, partnerships and reach.
- Contributing practical ideas and strategies for strengthening the organisation’s long-term sustainability and growth.

TEAM AND LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY The Head of Development will work closely with the leadership of Saarthi Trust and may be assigned volunteers, interns and other team members to support development-related activities.

The Head of Development will be responsible for guiding and coordinating assigned volunteers and interns in areas such as:

- Research and identification of potential partners
- CSR and donor research
- Stakeholder mapping
- Communication and follow-up
- Proposal development support
- Documentation
- Partnership databases
- Outreach and networking The Head of Development will provide direction to the assigned team while ensuring that their work remains aligned with Saarthi Trust’s objectives and skilled standards.

- Is comfortable with proposals, presentations, documentation and skilled communication.
- Has persistence and strong follow-up skills.
- Is willing to learn the practical functioning of NGOs, CSR partnerships, donor engagement and institutional collaborations.
- Can work comfortably in an evolving organisation where responsibilities may expand as Saarthi Trust grows.

THE NATURE OF THE ROLE

This role is intended for someone who wants to build rather than simply perform a fixed set of tasks.

The work may vary from day to day. It could involve a corporate meeting, researching a potential donor, preparing a proposal, speaking with a government or institutional stakeholder, coordinating with volunteers, understanding a field project or identifying a new collaboration opportunity.

We value initiative, ownership, relationship-building, adaptability and meaningful outcomes rather than simply fixed office hours.
