Role DescriptionWe are looking for an Editorial Assistant to support the editorial team in managing manuscripts through different stages of the publishing process. The role will involve working closely with editors, authors, and internal teams to ensure manuscripts are accurately edited, reviewed, and moved through the publishing workflow efficiently.
This is a full-time, in office role based in Gurugram.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in editing and proofreading manuscripts across different genres.
- Review manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, formatting, and overall readability.
- Work closely with Senior Editors and Editorial Project Managers on assigned books.
- Coordinate with authors and internal teams regarding manuscript-related requirements and revisions.
- Track editorial changes, feedback, and revisions throughout the publishing process.
- Maintain editorial records, trackers, and documentation for assigned projects.
- Conduct basic research and fact-checking wherever required.
- Ensure manuscripts follow the required editorial and publishing standards.
- Coordinate with Design, Typesetting, and other teams during the production process.
- Support the editorial team with day-to-day administrative and coordination tasks.
Must Have
- 1–3 years of relevant editorial experience, preferably in a publishing environment.
- Hands-on experience editing manuscripts is mandatory.
- Prior experience working in a publishing house is mandatory.
- Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and language.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies and errors.
- Ability to work on multiple manuscripts/projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word and familiarity with Track Changes and other editing tools.
- Must currently be based in Gurugram or be willing to relocate to Gurugram.
- Candidates based in Delhi or Noida who are not relocating to Gurugram will not be considered.
Preferred
- Experience working across fiction and/or non-fiction manuscripts.
- Familiarity with the end-to-end book publishing process.
- Experience coordinating with authors and editorial teams.
- Degree in English, Literature, Journalism, Publishing, Communications, or a related field.
Work LocationGurugram, Haryana — Full-time, On-site Location Requirement: This role requires regular presence at the Gurugram office. Candidates must either already be living in Gurugram or be willing to relocate to Gurugram. Candidates residing in Delhi or Noida without a confirmed relocation plan will not be considered.
