Position: Subject Matter Expert (SME) Diesel Generators & Electrical Systems

Function: Data Center Engineering / Operations

We are looking for an experienced Diesel Generator SME with robust hands-on expertise in large-capacity DG systems and good working knowledge of LV, MV and HV electrical distribution systems, preferably from data centers, critical facilities, utilities, or large industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities & Skills:

- Thorough technical knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, excitation/AVR systems, governors, starting systems, fuel systems, cooling, lubrication and DG controls.
- Strong capability in DG troubleshooting, failure analysis, RCA, preventive/predictive maintenance and major overhauling practices.
- Experience with large-capacity DG sets operating in parallel, synchronization, load sharing, load sequencing and AMF/ATS schemes.
- Good understanding of LV/MV/HV electrical distribution, including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, relays, breakers, busbars and earthing.




- Ability to diagnose engine, alternator, electrical and control-related failures and support site teams during critical breakdowns.
- Knowledge of DG testing, load-bank testing, commissioning, performance validation and reliability improvement.
- Strong understanding of applicable IS/IEC standards, CPCB requirements, electrical safety practices and OEM maintenance recommendations.
- Capability to review DG specifications, drawings, protection philosophy, technical submittals and support equipment/vendor technical evaluation.
- Develop and standardize maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, checklists and reliability practicesacross data center sites.
- Train and technically mentor site engineering and operations teams.

Preferred Profile: Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience, including significant hands-on experience with large diesel generators and critical electrical infrastructure. OEM/service experience with major DG/engine/alternator manufacturers would be an advantage.

Key expectation: This should be a hands-on technical SME role, not purely a managerial position. The person should be capable of going to site, diagnosing complex DG/electrical problems, identifying root causes and guiding teams through corrective action and long-term reliability improvements.
