Role Purpose:

We are seeking a Senior Data Migration Consultant with combined SAP Data Services (BODS) and ABAP development expertise to support the SAP S/4HANA store rollout for the MAF Retail operating company. The consultant will design and build the migration solution for assigned retail data objects and will develop the custom ABAP extraction, validation and load programmes that standard tooling cannot cover.

The ideal candidate will have 10 to 12 years of SAP experience spanning data migration and ABAP development, advanced BODS skills, and must have completed at least one full greenfield SAP S/4HANA retail implementation.

Role Details - Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Migration Design and Specification:

- Define the migration approach, object scope and acceptance criteria with functional leads and business data owners, including where custom development is required.
- Author and review mapping, transformation and technical specifications for retail migration objects, ensuring alignment with SAP load requirements and development standards.
- Recommend cleansing, deduplication and enrichment strategies for article hierarchies, site master, pricing conditions and open items.

BODS and ABAP Development:

- Design and build SAP Data Services jobs and dataflows, and develop custom ABAP programmes for extraction, validation, BAPI and BDC-based loads and post-load correction.
- Manage end-to-end data flow from legacy source systems through staging and validation into S/4HANA, including delta, repeat and rollback handling.
- Plan and run mock load cycles, build reconciliation reports, and secure business sign-off ahead of each cutover.

Data Quality and Technical Governance:

- Define data quality rules, custom validation reports and defect management standards for retail master data across the programme.




- Tune BODS jobs and ABAP programmes for parallel processing of high-volume retail article, price and inventory data within agreed cutover windows.
- Ensure custom developments follow MAF coding, security, transport and documentation standards, and pass code review.

Project Management Support:

- Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for data migration throughout the rollout lifecycle, from design through store go-live and hypercare.
- Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies for migration-specific challenges, such as legacy data gaps, programme run times and constrained cutover windows.
- Own the technical data readiness plan for assigned objects and report progress and issues to the Data Migration Lead.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Act as a primary technical contact for data migration in the retail stream, collaborating with functional leads, ABAP and Basis teams, legacy system owners and external partners.
- Lead data validation workshops with business data owners and mentor junior migration and development resources.

Functional/Technical Competencies

Education:

- Bachelor s/master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

- 10 to 12 years of SAP experience covering both data migration and ABAP development, with advanced hands-on SAP Data Services (BODS) skills.
- Mandatory: at least one complete greenfield SAP S/4HANA retail implementation delivered end to end, from design through go-live,



with proven expertise in retail master data objects such as article, article hierarchy, site master, vendor, customer and inventory balances.
- Strong command of the full migration lifecycle: extraction, mapping, transformation, load, reconciliation, defect resolution and sign-off.
- Experience developing custom migration and reconciliation programmes on multi-site rollout projects.

Technical Skills:

- Advanced SAP Data Services (BODS) job design, reusable frameworks, error handling and performance tuning.
- Solid ABAP skills: reports, ALV, BAPIs, BDC/LSMW, enhancements, CDS views, AMDP and performance optimisation.
- Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit (LTMC/LTMOM), staging tables, and retail modules such as IS-Retail, CAR and EWM.
- Strong SQL skills for data profiling and large-volume reconciliation, and familiarity with S/4HANA retail data models.

Soft Skills:

- Strong communication skills for engaging with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Analytical mindset to identify data gaps early and propose practical technical solutions.
- Ability to lead under pressure through cutover weekends and fixed store opening deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

- SAP Data Services, SAP S/4HANA Data Migration or ABAP Certification.
- Experience with large-scale retail SAP projects involving multi-location, multi-country and multi-currency operations.
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project methodologies and defect management tools such as Jira or Solution Manager.
