Position Overview The Class Manager – Insulation Products is responsible for leading the technical development, standardization, performance, quality, and lifecycle management of insulation products used in power transformers. This role will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, R&D;, and suppliers to ensure insulation solutions meet electrical, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, cost, and reliability requirements.

The role requires strong technical leadership, product knowledge, supplier management, and the ability to drive continuous improvement and standardization across transformer products and manufacturing locations.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the technical roadmap and lifecycle management of transformer insulation products and related materials.




- Lead development and standardization of insulation systems for power transformers across different voltage and power classes.
- Develop and maintain specifications, technical standards, drawings, material requirements, and design guidelines for insulation products.
- Collaborate with transformer design teams on electrical insulation coordination, clearances, creepage distances, dielectric requirements, and mechanical interfaces.
- Support development of insulation components including pressboard, kraft paper, crepe paper, transformer board, cylinders, spacers, end rings, blocks, angles, and related insulating materials.
- Evaluate new insulation materials, technologies, and suppliers to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Lead supplier technical evaluations, qualification, audits, trials, and resolution of material-related quality issues.
- Work with Procurement and suppliers on cost reduction, localization, alternate sources, and supply continuity initiatives.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing teams for insulation processing, assembly, drying, handling, and quality requirements.
- Investigate and resolve field, production, and testing issues related to insulation systems and materials.
- Drive root-cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive actions, and continuous improvement projects.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators related to insulation quality, cost, delivery, reliability, and process capability.
- Support transformer testing, type testing, customer requirements, and technical documentation related to insulation systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, IEEE, IS and customer-specific standards and specifications.
- Build and maintain knowledge of emerging insulation technologies and industry best practices.

- Strong technical documentation, governance, and adherence to applicable standards.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or related Engineering discipline; advanced qualification is an advantage.
- 10 to 15+ years of relevant experience in power transformer insulation, transformer design, manufacturing, or insulation material development.
- Strong understanding of insulation systems used in oil-filled power transformers.
- Experience with insulation materials, pressboard/paper products, material properties, manufacturing processes, and quality requirements.
- Knowledge of transformer electrical design, insulation coordination, dielectric stresses, and transformer manufacturing processes.
- Experience in supplier development, technical evaluation, qualification, and quality improvement.
- Working knowledge of applicable IEC / IEEE / IS standards related to transformers and insulation systems.
- Experience with engineering drawings, technical specifications, BOMs, ERP/SAP, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Work Environment & Travel

- Primarily based at the Vadodara manufacturing/engineering location.
