Position: Civil Works & Maintenance Supervisor

Role Overview The Civil Works & Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating civil works, building maintenance, repair and upkeep activities across the organisation's facilities. The role requires a broad understanding of multiple building and maintenance trades, including masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical works, welding/fabrication, painting and allied services.

The incumbent will assess reported faults and maintenance requirements, provide appropriate technical guidance, identify the skill sets required for each job, and coordinate with the relevant workers, technicians and contractors to ensure that work is executed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Civil Works & Maintenance
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day civil repair, maintenance, renovation, alteration and upkeep activities across buildings, offices, residential facilities and other institutional infrastructure.
- Attend to maintenance requirements involving masonry, plastering, flooring, tiling, carpentry, plumbing, electrical works, welding/fabrication, painting and other allied works.
- Inspect reported faults and maintenance requirements, assess the nature and extent of work involved, and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
- Multi-Skilled Work Coordination
- Identify the appropriate combination of skilled workers required for a particular maintenance or civil work, depending on the nature and complexity of the job.
- Coordinate with masons, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, welders, painters and other technicians for execution of works.
- Ensure proper sequencing and coordination between different trades where a single maintenance requirement involves multiple skill sets.
- Technical Supervision




- Provide technical guidance to workers and technicians during execution of civil and maintenance works.
- Supervise workmanship and ensure that repair, installation and construction activities are carried out appropriately and in accordance with required specifications and safety practices.
- Identify recurring faults and recommend suitable long-term corrective or preventive measures.
- Work Planning & Execution
- Plan and prioritise maintenance activities based on urgency, operational requirements and available resources.
- Prepare basic work requirements, material specifications and estimated quantities/costs, wherever required.
- Monitor the progress of assigned works and ensure timely completion with minimum disruption to regular organisational activities.
- Contractor & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with external contractors, technicians and service providers for specialised or outsourced works.
- Brief contractors/workers on the scope and requirements of the work and monitor their performance and quality of execution.
- Verify completion of assigned works and report any deficiencies requiring rectification.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure that all civil and maintenance works are executed with due attention to quality, safety and good engineering practices.
- Monitor the secure use of tools, equipment and materials by workers and technicians.
- Ensure appropriate precautions are taken during electrical, welding, plumbing, structural, height-related and other potentially hazardous maintenance activities.




- Material & Resource Management
- Assess material and equipment requirements for maintenance jobs and coordinate their availability before commencement of work.
- Monitor appropriate utilisation of materials and minimise wastage.
- Maintain basic records of maintenance materials, tools, works undertaken and pending requirements.
- Inspection & Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct periodic inspection of buildings, infrastructure, fixtures, fittings and other facilities to identify maintenance requirements.
- Support development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for civil and allied building services.
- Track recurring maintenance issues and suggest measures to improve the reliability and condition of institutional infrastructure.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of complaints, maintenance requests, works undertaken, materials used, contractors/workers engaged and completion status.
- Provide regular updates on ongoing, completed and pending maintenance works.
- Escalate major structural, electrical, plumbing or other technical issues requiring specialised professional intervention.

Qualification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
- Candidates with relevant ITI/technical qualifications and substantial hands-on experience in civil works and building maintenance may also be considered, depending on the level of the position.
- Additional training or experience in building services, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding/fabrication or facilities maintenance will be an advantage.

Experience

- 5 years of experience in civil works, building maintenance, facility maintenance, construction supervision or institutional infrastructure maintenance.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
