- Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
- Use computers, computer-aided design technology, structural design software (STAAD, ETABS, ETC) for design, analysis and simulation purposes.
- Using computer simulations to predict how structures will react under different conditions.
- Inspect properties to evaluate the conditions and foundations.
- Provide designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters.
- Calculate the loads, pressures, stresses and strains that each component, such as a beam, column, etc. will experience from parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes.
- Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately
- Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure
- Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
- Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions,



take and verify measurements within project area.
- Work with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and analyze results of soil sample and in situ tests
- Inspecting unsafe buildings and recommending options for repairs or demolition
- Making sure that projects meet legal guidelines, environmental directives, and health and safety requirements.
- May serve as Project Engineer and as a designated Client contact.
- Develop probable construction cost estimates for projects and preparing bids for tenders
- May direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities.
- Coordinate work with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.
- Monitor and inspect all work undertaken by contractors to ensure structural soundness.
- Attend and participate in Client meetings.
- Capable and experienced in managing and performing projects in a fast-paced setting.
