Position: Chemist – Chemical Testing of Building Materials

Department: Civil Testing Laboratory

Experience: 1–3 years

Qualification: M.Sc. Chemistry/B.Tech

Location: Mohali

Job Purpose To conduct chemical testing and analysis of construction and building materials in accordance with applicable IS/ASTM standards and NABL/ISO 17025 laboratory procedures, ensuring accurate, reliable and traceable test results.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform chemical testing of cement, aggregates/sand, concrete ingredients, water, admixtures, fly ash, GGBS, bricks/blocks and other construction materials.
- Conduct tests such as:
- Chloride
- Sulphate/SO₃
- Loss on Ignition (LOI)
- Insoluble Residue
- Magnesia
- Alkalis (Na₂O/K₂O)
- pH, TDS, hardness and alkalinity of water
- Other chemical parameters as per relevant standards/specifications.
- Carry out sample preparation, digestion, titration, gravimetric and volumetric analysis.
- Prepare and standardize chemical reagents and maintain reagent records.
- Operate laboratory instruments such as analytical balance, pH meter, conductivity/TDS meter, muffle furnace, oven, spectrophotometer/other applicable equipment.
- Maintain accurate raw data, worksheets, calculations, test registers and test reports.
- Ensure sample identification, traceability and proper storage.




- Follow applicable IS/ASTM/BS/EN test methods and client/project specifications.
- Comply with NABL/ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, laboratory QMS and internal QC procedures.
- Assist in calibration/verification, proficiency testing, internal audits and corrective actions.
- Follow laboratory chemical safety, PPE, waste disposal and housekeeping procedures.

Required Skills

- Practical knowledge of analytical chemistry and chemical testing.
- Good understanding of construction-material testing standards.
- Ability to perform accurate calculations and maintain technical records.
- Knowledge of NABL/ISO 17025 requirements.
- Good MS Excel/Word skills.
- High attention to accuracy, traceability and documentation.

Preferred Experience Experience in a NABL-accredited Civil/Construction Materials Testing Laboratory, particularly in chemical

Job Types: Full time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
