As a Book Researcher at Dozti, you will be responsible for conducting deep, structured research on a wide variety of subjects for the development of long-form books and other intellectual property.

You may be assigned a broad topic such as the history of mechanical watches, the evolution of fine jewelry, the development of luxury automobiles, the life of a notable individual, the history of a fashion house, a historical period, a business subject, or another specialized area. Your responsibility will be to develop a comprehensive understanding of that subject and organize the information into a research foundation that an author can confidently use to develop a book.

This role requires significantly more depth than ordinary online research. You will be expected to work across books, academic literature, archival material, historical records, interviews, reputable publications, primary sources, and other credible materials where appropriate.

You will identify key events, people, ideas, controversies, timelines, anecdotes, and lesser-known details while carefully distinguishing established facts from disputed claims or unsupported information.

The final objective is not simply to collect information. You must transform large amounts of research into organized, understandable, and well-sourced material that allows authors and writers to develop accurate, compelling, and authoritative books.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct extensive research for books across a variety of subjects and industries.




- Develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned topics before presenting findings.
- Locate and evaluate primary and secondary sources including books, academic research, archives, interviews, publications, historical documents, and reputable digital sources.
- Identify important facts, events, people, timelines, arguments, anecdotes, and contextual information relevant to each book.
- Build detailed research dossiers organized by topic, chapter, period, individual, or theme.
- Create chronological timelines when researching historical subjects, companies, industries, or biographies.
- Verify important factual claims across multiple credible sources whenever possible.
- Distinguish confirmed facts from interpretations, disputed claims, and information that cannot be independently verified.
- Maintain detailed citations and source records so information can be traced back to its origin.
- Identify contradictions between sources and clearly document areas of uncertainty.
- Find lesser-known stories and details that can make books more informative and compelling.
- Summarize complex source material without losing important context or nuance.
- Collaborate with authors, ghostwriters, and editors throughout the development of a book.
- Conduct additional targeted research as questions emerge during outlining and manuscript development.
- Maintain organized research libraries and documentation for future reference.

Requirements:

- 3 or more years of professional experience in research, journalism, academic research, publishing, investigative research, or a related field.
- Exceptional research ability and intellectual curiosity.
- Strong ability to independently learn unfamiliar and complex subjects.
- Excellent written English and ability to summarize complicated material clearly.
- Strong understanding of source credibility and research methodology.
- Ability to distinguish primary sources, secondary sources, commentary, and unsupported claims.
- Strong fact-checking and verification skills.




- Ability to synthesize information from numerous sources into coherent research materials.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work on research projects that may continue for weeks or months.
- Strong citation and source documentation practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with writers while remaining objective and evidence-focused.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

- Experience conducting research specifically for published books or long-form journalism.
- Background in history, journalism, economics, business, political science, sociology, or another research-intensive discipline.
- Experience researching luxury goods, craftsmanship, design, manufacturing, or the histories of established consumer brands.
- Experience conducting biographical research.
- Experience working with archives, historical records, and primary-source material.
- Familiarity with academic databases and scholarly research.
- Experience conducting and documenting expert or subject-matter interviews.
- Ability to identify potential experts, historians, industry professionals, and other sources for interviews.
- Experience researching niche industries or highly specialized subjects.
