Role Title: Lead-Acid Battery Material Integration Engineer
Location: Field-based / On-site trials at partner battery manufacturing facilities
Company: Cancrie (cancrie.co)
Role Overview Cancrie is looking for a hands-on Lead-Acid Battery Material Integration Engineer to bridge advanced materials innovation with commercial battery manufacturing. You will lead trial runs on industrial factory shop floors, integrating Cancrie’s patented Nano Carbon material into lead-acid battery production lines.
Your mission is to prove that Cancrie’s technology outperforms conventional nano-carbon materials by executing real-world manufacturing integration and running rigorous electrochemical performance tests (fast charging, energetic charge acceptance, high-rate discharge, and charge retention holding tests).
Must Haves
- Shop Floor & Manufacturing Experience: Direct hands-on experience working on lead-acid battery factory production lines, including familiarity with paste mixing (e.g., Eirich mixers), plate pasting, curing chambers, and tank/cell formation equipment.
- Material Testing & Evaluation: Experience running oxide paste evaluation, including drop tests, paste density, moisture content, flexural analysis, and monitoring oxide color changes.
- Electrochemical Performance Testing: Mastery of battery cyclers (e.g., Maccor, Bitrode, Digatron, Arbin) to setup and run:
- High-Rate Partial State of Charge (PSoC) and dynamic charge acceptance (DCA) testing.
- Fast charging, rapid discharge rate testing (C1 to C10), and self-discharge / charge holding tests.
- On-Site Trial Management:
Demonstrated ability to conduct industrial-scale trials at third-party battery manufacturing plants, working alongside plant operators to optimize dosage without altering existing assembly processes.
- Willingness to Travel: Readiness to travel frequently to lead-acid battery manufacturing sites for field validation and customer integration trials.
Good to Haves
- Prior experience with nano-carbon additives, carbon expanders, or negative active material (NAM) formulations in lead-carbon or VRLA/tubular/starter batteries.
- Background in failure analysis (microscopic analysis, active material shedding, sulfation mitigation, and cycle life diagnosis).
- Knowledge of standard regulatory testing protocols (e.g., BIS, IEC, BCIS standards for automotive, solar, and UPS lead-acid batteries).
- Basic exposure to Lithium-ion cell fabrication or other energy storage chemistries.
Required Experience & Background
- Years of Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in lead-acid battery manufacturing, R&D; trial execution, or process engineering.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Electrical Engineering.
