Key Responsibilities

Test Design, Planning and Execution (Hands-on Delivery)

- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test data, test scenarios, and associated testing documentation aligned to requirements and technical specifications.

- Support definition and maintenance of test entry and exit criteria for assigned components/workstreams.

- Ensure FR/NFR traceability for your scope of work and keep evidence up to date.

- Participate in test case reviews/QA to improve coverage, maintainability, and traceability to requirements and design.

- Support SIT/OAT/UAT scenario definition with business areas and technical leads where required.

- Produce test evidence and artefacts suitable for audit/regulatory needs as required.

Automation Engineering and CI/CD

- Plan, develop, execute, maintain, and continuously improve automated test scripts and reusable test utilities for IAM applications.

- Build and maintain backend automation using Python and Pytest (API and integration testing focus).

- Validate event-driven systems (Pub/Sub, queues, etc.) including replay/reprocessing scenarios and data integrity across asynchronous flows.

- Test and validate functions and decision logic defined as code”, including policy-as-code (with support where needed).

- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline integration to run automated tests, generate reports, and notify teams of results (partnering with DevOps/Test Lead).

- Create and manage synthetic and anonymised test data sets to support repeatable automated testing.

Defects, Reporting and Stakeholder Collaboration

- Report, track, and manage defects by writing (or automating) clear and thorough bug reports; attend triage meetings and verify fixes.

- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies regularly to the Automation Test Lead and delivery stakeholders.

- Identify quality risks and process/application issues, suggesting pragmatic improvements to improve reliability and testability.





- Collaborate effectively in an Agile delivery model and contribute to continuous improvement across quality engineering practices.

Required Skills:

- Minimum of 2 years practical experience in backend automation testing using Python and Pytest.

- Working knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts.

- Experience testing API-driven services (REST) and tooling such as Postman/Insomnia/Apidog.

- Experience validating event-driven systems (Pub/Sub, queues, Kafka etc.) and/or batch processing flows.

- Awareness of identity warehousing and data ingestion protocols/formats such as SCIM, REST API, LDAP, OIDC, and CSV.

- Understanding of policy-based access models and testing approaches (RBAC / ABAC / ReBAC / PBAC).

- Experience using JIRA and Zephyr for test management and defect lifecycle (mandatory).

- Exposure to CI/CD practices and integrating automated tests into pipelines; shift-left mindset.

- Cloud testing experience, ideally GCP (additional exposure to AWS/Azure/Entra is beneficial).

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work effectively across engineering and security stakeholders.

Desired Skills

- Experience in consumer-driven contract testing.

- Experience testing policy-as-code (OPA / Rego), including policy evaluation and explainability basics.

- Exposure to testing solutions built on GraphDB (Neo4j) and/or validating graph-based relationships and assertions.

- Exposure to orchestration tools (e.g., n8n) and/or GenAI tooling used to support Quality Engineering (test generation, analysis, triage support).

- Exposure to containerised test execution patterns.

- Performance testing awareness and tooling exposure (JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner, NeoLoad or similar), including reporting.

- Exposure to GitOps repositories and contemporary DevOps delivery patterns.

- Exposure to Vault (HashiCorp), SPIFFE/SPIRE, session management services, or governance/auditing controls testing.
