The position is part of the Global Procurement Operations & Master Data function and reports to the Team Lead – Master Data. The team supports the creation, maintenance, governance, and quality of Material and Vendor Master Data used across global business processes. Its work enables Procurement, Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and IT teams to operate with accurate, consistent, compliant, and business-ready master data.
The team currently consists of a Team Lead and Master Data professionals who manage operational requests, complex data scenarios, data-quality checks, exception resolution, governance controls, documentation, and process improvements. Team members collaborate closely in their day-to-day work, share knowledge, prioritize requests according to business impact and service commitments, and jointly resolve challenges that affect downstream operational processes.
The working culture is collaborative, service-oriented, and control-conscious. Although team members are expected to independently manage assigned requests, they work together on complex cases, escalations, high-volume activities, data-quality issues, migrations, testing, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
The team contributes to Novonesis’ purpose by ensuring that critical Material and Supplier Master Data is accurate, reliable, compliant, and available when required. This supports effective procurement, planning, production, logistics, inventory, quality, accounting, and payment processes across the organization.
The role is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant and business-ready master data through expert SAP execution, cross-functional collaboration, data quality management and governance adherence. The successful candidate will independently manage complex material scenarios and understand the downstream impact of master data across Procurement, Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, extend, block and inactivate material and vendor master records in SAP.
- Review requests for completeness, correct approvals and support documents before processing.
- Acts as a subject matter expert for complex Material Master scenarios and exception handling
- Handle high-volume and complex master data requests accurately within agreed service levels.
- Perform data-quality checks, resolve errors and coordinate with business teams when information is incomplete or inconsistent.
- Support master data cleansing, migration, testing and implementation activities.
- Monitor request volume, ageing, backlog, accuracy, rework and first-time-right performance.
- Maintain SOPs, work instructions and process documentation.
- Identify recurring issues and support process standardization, automation and continuous improvement.
The role combines execution and optimization. The primary focus is accurate and timely operational delivery, but the specialist must also exercise functional judgement when handling complex, incomplete, conflicting, or high-risk master data requests. The position requires an understanding of how changes to Material and Supplier Master Data affect connected business processes. Material changes may influence procurement, planning, production, inventory, logistics, valuation, costing, quality, and finance. Supplier-data issues may affect purchase orders, invoices, payments, withholding tax, reporting, system interfaces, and wider Procure-to-Pay processes.

The person must be able to independently translate business requirements into correct master data actions, identify risks and inconsistencies, troubleshoot errors, perform reconciliations, manage exceptions, and escalate matters where the information or authorization is insufficient. Innovation is not the primary purpose of the role, but the specialist is expected to identify recurring issues and contribute practical ideas for process standardization, improved controls, automation, reporting, and data-quality improvement
- 8 to 10 years of experience in Material Master Data, Vendor Master Data, Supply Chain, Procurement Operations or a related shared-services environment
- Demonstrated experience handling complex material creation, extension, classification, BOM-related or lifecycle management scenarios.
- Ability to translate business requests into correct master data actions and identify incomplete, conflicting or high-risk requirements
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve master data issues impacting Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality or Supply Chain operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA master data processes.
- Practical understanding of the Procure-to-Pay process and manufacturing or supply chain dependencies.
- Experience in master data creation, changes, mass updates, validation, cleansing and governance.
- Good Excel, reporting and data-analysis skills.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.

The role follows the applicable Bangalore office and hybrid-working arrangement. Working hours should provide reasonable collaboration coverage for global stakeholders. Flexibility may occasionally be required during business-critical incidents, month-end activities, implementations, migrations, testing, or high-volume periods. Regular travel is not expected; limited travel may occur based on project or business requirements. I have deliberately not inserted a salary figure because the attached JD does not specify a compensation range, internal grade, or approved salary band. A numerical amount should be entered only after confirming the official job level and range with Regional TA or Recruitment.
This role supports the continued strengthening of Material and Vendor Master Data operations, data quality, governance, and SAP-enabled business processes within Global Procurement Operations & Master Data.
The position will be key in maintaining operational continuity while supporting standardization, process improvement, cleansing, migration, testing, and future SAP S/4HANA Business Partner or MDG-related initiatives. It also provides development potential through increased exposure to complex material scenarios, global stakeholder management, governance, data-quality stewardship, reporting, automation, and transformation activities.
The successful candidate should be capable of operating independently in the assigned scope while collaborating closely with the Team Lead, other Master Data colleagues, Governance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and IT stakeholders.
