Role Purpose:

We are seeking an ABAP Consultant to support the SAP S/4HANA store rollout for the MAF Retail operating company. Working offshore under the ABAP / Development Lead, the consultant will build, test and support the custom developments required by the functional streams, covering reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms and Fiori-related services for each store wave.

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 8 years of hands-on ABAP development experience on S/4HANA, working knowledge of retail data models, and must have worked on at least one complete greenfield SAP S/4HANA retail implementation.

Role Details - Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Development and Build:

- Develop RICEFW objects from approved functional specifications, including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms and workflows.
- Prepare technical specifications, review functional specifications for completeness, and raise clarifications with the functional consultants early.
- Build using S/4HANA-appropriate techniques such as CDS views, AMDP, OData services, BAdIs and released APIs, avoiding modifications to standard code.

Quality, Performance and Testing:

- Unit test all developments, prepare test evidence, and support functional consultants through string, integration and user acceptance testing.
- Optimise programme performance for high-volume retail data, using efficient selection logic, parallel processing and HANA push-down techniques.
- Comply with MAF coding, security, naming, transport and documentation standards, and participate in peer code reviews.

Defect Resolution and Support:

- Analyse and fix defects raised during SIT, UAT, cutover and hypercare,



including root cause analysis and regression testing.
- Support cutover activities with data correction programmes, reconciliation reports and post-load fixes as required.
- Support interface developments and troubleshooting in coordination with the integration team.

Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:

- Maintain technical documentation and handover material to project standards for every object delivered.
- Escalate risks and issues promptly to the Development Lead, such as unclear specifications, effort overruns or dependency delays.
- Track assigned development objects against the build plan and report progress accurately.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Work closely with functional consultants, the integration and data migration teams, Basis and testing teams across offshore and onshore locations.
- Support handover of custom developments to the application support team, ensuring availability during UAE business hours as required.

Functional/Technical Competencies

Education:

- Bachelor s/master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

- 5 to 8 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, including delivery on S/4HANA.
- Mandatory:



at least one complete greenfield SAP S/4HANA retail implementation delivered end to end, from design through go-live, with exposure to retail data models and high-volume store and article data.
- Experience delivering the full RICEFW range: reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms and workflow.
- Experience supporting SIT, UAT, cutover and hypercare on a multi-site rollout.

Technical Skills:

- Core ABAP skills: OO ABAP, ALV reports, BAPIs, BDC, user exits, BAdIs, enhancement framework and IDoc processing.
- S/4HANA skills: CDS views, AMDP, OData services, released APIs and the ABAP RESTful application programming model.
- Performance tuning and debugging skills for high-volume data processing.
- Familiarity with Fiori/UI5 extensions, Adobe or SmartForms, and transport management.

Soft Skills:

- Explicit written and spoken English for working with functional consultants and onshore stakeholders remotely.
- Analytical mindset and disciplined approach to debugging and root cause analysis.
- Willingness to work offshore with overlap to UAE business hours and extended hours during cutover and go-live.

Preferred Qualifications:

- SAP ABAP or SAP S/4HANA development certification.
- Experience with large-scale retail SAP rollouts delivered from an offshore location.
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid methodologies, abapGit or gCTS, and tools such as Jira or Solution Manager.
