Role & responsibilities

The scope involves earthwork, site grading, excavation, foundations, RCC and structural works, industrial flooring, northlight truss roofing , sheeting, drainage, roads, underground utilities, water-retaining structures, and coordination of civil works with mechanical, electrical, and process installations. These activities require continuous technical control by a qualified Civil Engineer with relevant project-execution experience.

A dedicated Civil Engineer would be necessary to undertake, among other responsibilities:

- Review of drawings, specifications, BOQs, and construction methodology.
- Technical interpretation and administration of civil-work contracts, including deviations, extra items, variations, measurement provisions, and contractor claims.
- Planning and monitoring against approved construction programme, work fronts, resource deployment, critical-path activities, and interface milestones.
- Verification of setting-out works, benchmarks, grid lines, formation levels, excavation levels, plinth levels, and finished floor levels using surveying instruments such as theodolite/total station and auto level.
- Inspection of reinforcement, shuttering, concreting, embedded items, construction joints, curing, cube testing, and related quality-control records.
- Review of contractor running-account bills, joint measurements, reconciliation of materials, quantity variations,



and certification of completed works.
- Ensuring compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, and applicable Indian Standards.
- Monitoring workmanship, construction tolerances, safety requirements, non-conformance rectification, and timely closure of punch-list items.
- Coordination with architects, structural consultants, contractors, vendors, utility agencies, and internal mechanical/electrical teams.

In view of the above, it is recommended that Mr. Singh may continue to support day-to-day site supervision and interdepartmental coordination within a clearly defined role. At the same time, recruitment or deployment of an experienced Civil Engineer is strongly recommended for the greenfield expansion project to ensure adequate technical governance, quality assurance, commercial control, timely execution, and mitigation of construction-related risks.

The Civil Engineer should preferably have experience in industrial greenfield projects, RCC and structural works, contractor management, project planning, quantity verification, bill certification, quality systems, surveying, and interpretation of relevant IS codes and contract conditions, and be knowing the use of AUTO CAD and preparation of Gnan chart / Barchart using requisite software.
