Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Python Backend Developer with robust hands-on expertise in Python, FastAPI, RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend platform development.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable and secure backend services. The role requires close collaboration with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, QA teams, architects, and product stakeholders to deliver reliable enterprise applications for Applied Materials.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and FastAPI.

Build high-performance and secure RESTful APIs and microservices.

Develop modular, reusable, and maintainable backend components.

Understand business and technical requirements and translate them into backend solutions.

Integrate backend services with databases, third-party applications, and external APIs.

Implement API authentication, authorization, validation, exception handling, and security controls.

Create asynchronous applications and background-processing workflows using Python.

Write unit tests, integration tests, and API automation tests.

Troubleshoot and resolve application, API, database, and performance-related issues.

Optimize backend services for scalability, reliability, and performance.

Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews.

Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams for application testing, deployment, and production releases.

Support containerization and deployment activities using Docker and Kubernetes.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, estimation, and technical discussions.

Create and maintain API documentation, technical documents, and operational guidelines.

Mentor junior developers and ensure adherence to Python coding standards and development best practices.

Skill Requirements

5+ years of experience in software development, application engineering, or backend development.

Strong hands-on programming experience in Python.

Strong hands-on development experience with FastAPI.

Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.





Strong understanding of microservices architecture.

Experience building scalable, modular, and reusable backend platforms.

Strong knowledge of Python concepts, including object-oriented programming, data structures, exception handling, decorators, generators, multithreading, multiprocessing, and asynchronous programming.

Experience with Pydantic models, request validation, response models, and dependency injection.

Experience implementing API authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, JWT, or similar mechanisms.

Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.

Experience with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy.

Experience integrating backend applications with external APIs and enterprise systems.

Experience with unit testing and API testing using Pytest or similar frameworks.

Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills.

Good understanding of Git and source-code management.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum or managed-services environments.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Other Requirements

Important Screening Note The candidate must have strong, recent, hands-on experience in both Python and FastAPI. Profiles with only Django/Flask experience, general Python scripting, data engineering, automation testing, or frontend-heavy full-stack development should not be considered unless they also demonstrate solid FastAPI-based backend development experience.

Preferred skills include Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and semiconductor Preferred Skills

Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.

Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.

Experience with asynchronous programming using async and await.

Experience with task-processing tools such as Celery or equivalent frameworks.

Knowledge of caching and messaging solutions such as Redis, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.

Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.

Experience with application monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.

Experience working in enterprise or production-critical environments.

Semiconductor-domain experience is an added advantage.
