CSA – Library Assistant
Purpose of Role

To support the Librarian in the effective management and smooth functioning of the school library, ensuring that students and staff have access to appropriate books, learning resources, and a well-organized and welcoming library workplace.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Librarian in the day-to-day management and operation of the library.
Assist students and teachers in locating and selecting appropriate books and learning resources.
Manage the issue and return of books and maintain accurate circulation records.
Organize, arrange, and maintain books, reference materials, magazines, and other library resources.
Ensure books are properly shelved, labelled, classified, and maintained.
Assist with cataloguing, accessioning, barcoding, and processing of current books.
Support students during library periods, reading sessions, and other library activities.
Encourage students to develop valuable reading habits and make effective use of library resources.




Monitor overdue books and follow up with students and staff for timely returns.
Assist with stock verification, inventory management, and identification of missing or damaged books.
Help maintain the cleanliness, discipline, and organization of the library.
Assist in preparing book displays, reading corners, exhibitions, and library-related activities.
Support teachers and students in accessing digital and other educational resources.
Ensure the proper care and security of library books, equipment, and resources.
Communicate any concerns regarding library resources, student behaviour, or operational requirements to the Librarian.
Perform other duties related to the library as assigned by the Librarian or School Management.
