Role purpose

The Workshop Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and profitability of the vehicle workshop. The post holder will plan and coordinate all workshop activity, manage a team of commercial vehicle technicians, and ensure the highest standards of workmanship, customer satisfaction, and compliance are maintained at all times.
Key responsibilitiesWorkshop operations
Plan, schedule, and allocate work across the workshop to maximise labour efficiency and throughput
Monitor job progress and ensure vehicles are completed on time and to the required standard
Oversee quality control checks and pre-delivery inspections on all completed work
Manage workshop loading and capacity to meet customer and fleet operator commitments
Maintain accurate workshop records including job cards, time sheets, and vehicle histories

People management
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of qualified commercial vehicle technicians
Conduct regular performance reviews, appraisals, and one-to-one meetings
Identify training needs and coordinate manufacturer or trade training programmes
Support the recruitment and induction of current workshop staff
Manage attendance, discipline, and conduct in line with company HR policies

Financial performance




Take ownership of workshop revenue, labour efficiency, and gross profit targets
Monitor and control workshop costs including consumables, subcontract labour, and warranty
Review daily and weekly KPIs, identify variances, and implement corrective action
Authorise purchase orders and manage expenditure within agreed budgets

Customer and stakeholder relations
Work closely with service advisors to ensure transparent communication on vehicle status and completion times
Liaise with fleet customers, operators, and insurers where required
Handle technical escalations and customer complaints in a professional and timely manner
Build and maintain strong working relationships with manufacturer warranty and technical support teams

Health, safety & compliance
Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation.
Maintain a clean, secure, and well-organised workshop environment
Ensure all technicians hold valid and current relevant certifications.
Carry out regular risk assessments, tool audits, and equipment inspections
Ensure compliance with manufacturer workshop standards and any relevant franchise requirements

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
