A Nursing Superintendent serves as the chief administrative and clinical leader of a hospital's nursing department, responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating nursing care across facilities in compliance with standards like NABH.
Core Responsibilities
Administration & Staffing: Manage duty rosters, staff allocation across ICU, IPD, OPD, and ER, and oversee recruitment and discipline.
Quality & Patient Care: Conduct regular ward rounds, enforce infection control protocols, and handle patient grievances.
Budget & Resources: Prepare departmental budgets, monitor medical supplies, and manage equipment deployment.
Training & Development: Organize in-service education, clinical audits, and staff performance appraisals.
Coordination: Liaise between the medical superintendent, hospital administration, and nursing staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: M.Sc. Nursing or B.Sc. Nursing; a post-graduate diploma in hospital administration is often preferred. Valid registration with the Kerala Nursing Council / State Nursing Council.
Experience: 10 to 15 years of total clinical and administrative experience, including several years in a senior supervisory role (such as Deputy Nursing Superintendent).
Skills: Robust leadership, crisis management, budget planning, and knowledge of regulatory accreditation standards (NABH)
Pay: ₹16,041.87 - ₹84,973.41 per month
