About The Role

HCLSoftware is seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our Office of the CISO team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining security controls that safeguard our enterprise and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on, builder role that emphasizes practical implementation over documentation. You will own the security platforms end-to-end, from initial design and rollout to continuous tuning, automation, and operational health management. Collaborating closely with Security Operations Center (SOC), Vulnerability Management, IT, and cloud engineering teams, you will work to enhance the security posture of our organization, ensuring environments are well-instrumented and resilient against threats.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess over five years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or closely related roles with a strong emphasis on hands-on implementation. Demonstrated ownership of at least two enterprise security platforms—covering deployment, configuration, and operational management—is essential. Candidates should have robust cloud security experience with at least one major provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including native security services and policy enforcement. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Go, and familiarity with vendor APIs for automation purposes are required. A solid understanding of operating system internals, networking principles, and identity protocols like SAML, OIDC, and OAuth is necessary.



Experience with infrastructure as code, version-controlled workflows, and troubleshooting complex environments is highly valued.

Responsibilities

As a Security Engineer at HCLSoftware, your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of security engineering tasks. You will deploy, configure, and maintain core security platforms, including Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), email security, secure service edge, cloud security posture management, and identity controls. Designing effective control rollouts to address coverage gaps, handle exceptions, and minimize performance impact will be a key focus. You will also integrate security tooling with SIEM and SOAR systems to ensure telemetry is actionable, enabling rapid response to security incidents.

Ensuring the health and effectiveness of security controls will be critical. This includes monitoring agent coverage, policy adherence, enforcement efficacy, and detecting silent failures. In cloud environments, you will implement and maintain guardrails across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including policy enforcement, posture monitoring, and automated remediation workflows. Building and maintaining hardened baselines for operating systems, containers, and cloud services aligned with CIS benchmarks is essential for maintaining a secure environment.

Automation plays a vital role in your responsibilities. You will automate repetitive security operations tasks through scripting, APIs, and infrastructure as code, ensuring configurations are version-controlled, peer-reviewed, and reliably deployed. Developing integrations between security, IT, and engineering systems to facilitate seamless data flow and operational efficiency will be part of your role. You will also produce comprehensive documentation and runbooks to ensure operational continuity and knowledge sharing.





Operational support and incident response form a core part of the role. You will assist in rapid containment, control changes, and forensic data collection during security incidents. Collaborating with Vulnerability Management, you will engineer scalable remediation solutions rather than handling issues on a ticket-by-ticket basis. Participation in on-call rotations for security platform issues and high-severity incidents will be required. Additionally, you will contribute to audit and compliance activities by collecting and maintaining evidence of control effectiveness.

For AI security engineering, your role will extend to implementing security guardrails for internal AI and large language model systems, including protections against prompt injection, model poisoning, and data exfiltration. Maintaining secure AI infrastructure, automating AI-driven security workflows, and monitoring AI tool usage for governance compliance will be vital. Staying current on emerging threats to AI systems and adapting security controls accordingly will ensure the integrity of our AI initiatives.
