Hazargo is looking for a competent and safety-conscious Lab Chemist to conduct hazardous-waste characterisation, laboratory analysis and process-quality monitoring at its recycling, pre-processing, TSDF and incineration facility.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect and analyse hazardous-waste samples before acceptance, unloading, storage and processing.
* Test waste for parameters such as pH, moisture, ash content, calorific value, flash point, specific gravity, viscosity, chlorides, sulphur and other specified characteristics.
* Conduct compatibility testing to prevent unsafe reactions during waste mixing, blending, storage or incineration.
* Classify waste and recommend its suitability for recycling, pre-processing, incineration, secured landfill or another authorised treatment route.
* Support the preparation of safe and consistent incinerator feed mixtures according to approved operating requirements.
* Test incoming waste, processed waste, incinerator ash, landfill samples, leachate, wastewater and ETP/STP samples.
* Monitor treatment-process parameters and promptly report abnormal or out-of-specification results.
* Coordinate specialised testing for heavy metals, TCLP, VOCs and other parameters through approved external laboratories when required.
* Prepare test reports, certificates of analysis, sample records, waste-characterisation reports and laboratory registers.
* Maintain complete traceability of samples from receipt through testing, reporting and disposal.
* Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as pH meters, bomb calorimeters, flash-point apparatus, moisture analysers, muffle furnaces, spectrophotometers and weighing balances.
* Ensure timely calibration, verification and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments.
* Prepare reagents and standard solutions and ensure the safe handling,
labelling and storage of laboratory chemicals.
* Assist in investigating non-conforming waste, unusual reactions, process deviations, customer complaints and environmental incidents.
* Coordinate with Operations, EHS, Quality, ETP, Incineration, Landfill and Waste-Receiving teams.
* Support environmental monitoring, statutory inspections and internal or external audits.
* Follow laboratory SOPs, permit conditions and applicable CPCB/SPCB requirements.
* Strictly follow PPE, chemical-handling, fire-safety and emergency-response procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
* B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
* 2–5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in hazardous-waste management, TSDF, incineration, chemical manufacturing, recycling, ETP or environmental testing.
* Practical knowledge of hazardous-waste sampling, characterisation, compatibility testing and laboratory documentation.
* Understanding of hazardous-waste properties, chemical incompatibilities, SDS/MSDS and safe chemical handling.
* Familiarity with applicable CPCB/SPCB requirements and the Hazardous and Other Wastes Management Rules.
* Ability to operate, calibrate and maintain routine laboratory instruments.
* Strong observation, analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills.
* Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and email reporting.
* Willingness to work in shifts and within hazardous-waste handling areas while following prescribed safety requirements.
Preferred Candidate:
A disciplined and technically capable chemist who can accurately characterise hazardous waste, maintain reliable laboratory records and support protected decision-making for recycling, pre-processing, incineration and disposal operations.
Pay: ₹9,778.15 - ₹36,961.04 per month
