We are looking for a Python developer with SWIFT ISO 20022 and messaging-domain knowledge to engineer, maintain, and enhance SWIFT-related automation for confirmation matching and settlement clearance.

The developer will work on Python-based extraction, mapping, matching, and exception identification across SWIFT messages. Existing Python code is hosted in SharePoint and is run periodically through task schedulers to process messages at scale and identify exceptions quickly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Confirmation matching

- Extract relevant information from SWIFT MT300 and MT320 messages.
- Match confirmations against preset criteria.
- Identify unmatched items, breaks, and exceptions for operations follow-up.

2. Settlement clearance

- Match incoming SWIFT messages — MT900, MT910, MT544, MT545, MT546, MT547, MT548 — to application-expected trade settlements.
- Flag mismatches, missing settlements, and exception cases for clearance.

3. SWIFT, Python, and integration engineering

- Build and maintain Python code for SWIFT parsing, data mapping, matching logic, logging, and exception reporting.
- Apply SWIFT ISO 20022 messaging formats and data-mapping knowledge (including MT/MX mapping concepts as required).
- Work with SWIFT network components (SNL / SNA) and related banking applications.
- Use SQL for lookups, reconciliations, audit extracts, and integration with settlement/confirmation data.
- Support SharePoint-hosted Python assets and task-scheduler jobs that run on a defined cadence.
- Improve reliability so exceptions are identified early and manual matching is reduced.

4. Delivery and collaboration

- Partner with operations,



settlement/treasury, and client IT stakeholders, including EST overlap with US teams.
- Document message mappings, match rules, exception categories, and run/support procedures.
- Support scheduled production runs, incident analysis, and controlled changes.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Solid Python development and integration experience (parsing, transformation, file/API integration, automation).

2. SWIFT domain knowledge, including:

- ISO 20022 messaging formats and data mapping
- SWIFT network familiarity: SNL / SNA

3. Hands-on experience with SWIFT MT messages, ideally:

- Confirmations: MT300, MT320
- Settlement / securities-related: MT900, MT910, MT544, MT545, MT546, MT547, MT548

4. SQL for engineering, integration, and reconciliation.

5. Experience with scheduled / batch Python jobs (Windows Task Scheduler or equivalent).

6. Ability to work with code and operational artifacts in SharePoint.

7. Based in Chennai and able to work from the client location, with US EST collaboration.

Preferred Skills

1. Confirmation matching, trade settlement, or exception-management experience in banking operations.

2. ISO 20022 migration awareness (MT MX), CBPR+ / HVPS+, or treasury/trade messaging.

3. Controls-oriented engineering: logging, audit trails, validation, and operational runbooks.

4. Git / source control, structured configuration, and maintainable match-rule design.

5. Familiarity with FX, money markets, and securities settlement workflows.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in banking technology.
