Position: In-Process Quality Inspector / Engineer
Department: Quality
Reporting To: Quality Manager / Production & Quality Head

1. Job Purpose

To ensure that products are manufactured as per approved drawings, specifications, process parameters and quality standards by carrying out inspection and quality control at every stage of production.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. In-Process Inspection

- Perform inspection of components/products during different stages of production.
- Check dimensions, appearance, functionality and other specified quality parameters.
- Ensure production is carried out as per approved drawing, specification and work instruction.
- Identify defects at the earliest stage and prevent further processing of defective material.
- Verify first-piece/first-off samples before continuing production, wherever applicable.
- Conduct patrol inspection at defined intervals during production.

B. Process Control

- Monitor critical process parameters and ensure they remain within specified limits.
- Verify that operators are following the approved process and work instructions.
- Ensure proper use and availability of measuring instruments, gauges and inspection equipment.
- Identify process-related quality problems and coordinate with Production for immediate correction.
- Monitor recurring defects and help in implementing preventive actions.

C. Rejection & Defect Control

- Record daily rejection, rework and defect quantities.
- Maintain defect-wise rejection data.
- Calculate and monitor rejection percentage against production.
- Segregate rejected/non-conforming material and ensure proper identification.
- Inform Production and Quality seniors immediately about major or repeated defects.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective action for recurring defects.

D. Documentation

- Maintain in-process inspection reports and quality records.
- Maintain inspection check sheets, rejection reports and related documents.
- Record measurement results accurately and ensure traceability.




- Prepare daily/shift-wise quality reports.
- Ensure quality records are complete and available for review/audit.

E. Coordination

- Coordinate with Production regarding quality issues and process corrections.
- Work with Production, Maintenance, Tool Room and other departments to resolve process-related quality problems.
- Stop or hold production/material when a serious quality issue is identified, as per company procedure.
- Communicate quality requirements clearly to operators and supervisors.

3. Required Skills

- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality inspection.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand specifications.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Gauges, etc.
- Basic knowledge of 7 QC tools and root-cause analysis.
- Good observation and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer knowledge, especially Excel and quality-report preparation.
- Ability to maintain accurate inspection records.
- Positive communication and coordination skills.

- In-process rejection %
- Rework %
- Customer/Final inspection rejection
- First-pass yield / Right First Time
- Number of recurring defects
- Inspection compliance
- Process parameter compliance
- Timely identification and closure of quality issues
- Accuracy and completeness of quality records

5. Authority

- To identify and report non-conforming material.
- To segregate/hold defective material as per quality procedure.
- To recommend process correction when quality requirements are not being met.
- To escalate critical or repeated quality problems to the Quality/Production Head.

6. Qualification & Experience

Qualification: ITI / Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Automobile or relevant field.

Experience: 1–5 years in manufacturing/process quality, preferably in a glass processing industry.

Preferred: Experience with inspection instruments, engineering drawings, process inspection, rejection analysis, and quality documentation.
