Job Description - Senior RPG Developer (IBM i / AS400)Experience: 10+ YearsLocation: RemoteEmployment Type: ContractJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior RPG Developer with strong expertise in IBM i (AS/400) application development, modernization, and production support. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in RPG development and IBM i technologies, along with the ability to understand complex business processes and drive modernization initiatives. Exposure to IBM watsonx / IBM Business Orchestration Builder (BOB) AI or other IBM AI technologies is a strong advantage.Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
- Develop and support applications using RPG III, RPG IV (ILE RPG), Free Format RPG, CL, SQLRPGLE, and DB2 for i.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Perform application enhancements, bug fixes, code reviews, and production support.
- Optimize existing RPG applications for performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Develop and consume APIs (REST/JSON/XML) to integrate IBM i applications with up-to-date systems.
- Participate in initiatives for modernizing legacy applications and cloud integration projects.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA teams, and stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
- Mentor junior developers and promote coding standards and best practices.
- Support release management, deployment, and production issue resolution.

Required Skills





- Hands-on experience in IBM i (AS/400) development.
- Strong expertise in:
- RPG III, RPG IV (ILE RPG), Free Format RPG
- CL Programming
- SQLRPGLE
- DB2 for i
- DDS and Subfiles
- Embedded SQL
- Experience with IBM i development tools such as RDi (Rational Developer for i) and ACS (Access Client Solutions).
- Experience in application debugging, performance tuning, and production support.
- Knowledge of APIs, Web Services, REST, JSON, and integration techniques.
- Familiarity with source control tools such as Git or similar.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

- Experience with IBM Business Orchestration Builder (BOB) for AI-powered workflow automation.
- Exposure to IBM watsonx.ai, watsonx Assistant, or other IBM AI solutions.
- Experience integrating IBM i applications with AI services, LLMs, or intelligent automation platforms.
- Knowledge of API-driven architectures, event-driven integration, or message queues.
- Exposure to modernization tools for IBM i applications.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Pay: ₹2,000,000.00 - ₹3,000,000.00 per year
