Senior Researcher Political & Strategic Research

Core Function: In-depth Research, Research Writing & Editorial Development

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Researcher with a strong background in political, government, historical, public affairs, media, or strategic research.

This position is suited for a researcher who has worked on high-quality, research-intensive projects requiring extensive information gathering, source verification, historical and contextual understanding, analytical thinking, and solid writing capabilities.

The ideal candidate should be capable of taking ownership of a research subject from beginning to end discovering and evaluating sources, tracing information across different periods, establishing context, cross-verifying facts, identifying connections and patterns, and transforming the research into authoritative and well-structured written material.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and independently execute complex, in-depth research assignments across political, governmental, historical, social, and public-affairs subjects.

* Conduct extensive research using books, reports, government documents, parliamentary and legislative records, historical material, publications, databases, newspapers, journals, media reports, digital resources, and other credible primary and secondary sources.

* Trace subjects, events, personalities, organisations, policies, statements, and developments across different periods to build a complete and accurate research narrative.

* Identify and retrieve relevant information from large volumes of documents and source material.

* Establish chronologies, timelines, relationships, patterns, background, and context around complex subjects.

* Cross-reference multiple sources to verify facts, dates, events, quotations, statistics, claims, and historical information.





* Identify gaps or inconsistencies in available information and undertake additional research to establish a reliable account.

* Develop comprehensive research dossiers, background papers, profiles, timelines, analytical reports, briefing documents, research notes, and long-form research outputs.

* Maintain organised research documentation, references, source records, and supporting material for future use.

Research Writing & Editorial Development

The candidate must possess exceptional research-based writing abilities and should be comfortable converting large volumes of information into structured and compelling content.

Responsibilities will include:

* Writing detailed research papers, long-form articles, reports, chapters, profiles, backgrounders, analytical notes, narratives, and publication-quality material.

* Developing content where depth, accuracy, context, chronology, and factual credibility are critical.

* Converting fragmented information from multiple sources into a coherent and comprehensive narrative.

* Presenting complex political, governmental, historical, or public-affairs subjects in clear and engaging language.

* Developing long-form and book-length research material, including chapter-level research and content development.

* Editing and restructuring existing research to improve its clarity, depth, flow, and overall quality.

* Reviewing and strengthening research produced by other team members.

* Ensuring that every major factual assertion can be supported by a credible and traceable source.

* Maintaining consistency of facts, names, dates, events, terminology,



and references across large research projects.

What We Are Looking For

* 6–10 years of strong professional research experience.

* Demonstrated experience handling high-quality, complex, and research-intensive projects.

* Strong exposure to political research, government and governance, history, public affairs, policy, media research, publishing, or related areas.

* Exceptional ability to dig deeper than readily available online information.

* Strong ability to discover, evaluate, organise, and cross-reference information from diverse sources.

* Excellent long-form writing, research writing, editing, and fact-checking skills.

* Ability to understand the larger context behind individual events and connect developments across different periods.

* Strong command over chronology-based and evidence-driven research.

* Ability to work independently on a broad subject and develop it into a comprehensive research output.

* Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.

* High standards of accuracy, credibility, confidentiality, and research integrity.

* Ability to manage large volumes of information without losing important details or context.

Preferred Experience

Candidates who have previously worked on major publications, books, documentaries, political or public-affairs projects, government-related assignments, research publications, historical projects, long-form journalism, media projects, or other large-scale knowledge-intensive projects will be strongly preferred.

Experience with research organisations, think tanks, publishing houses, media organisations, political/public-affairs consulting, government-related projects, or multidisciplinary research teams would be an advantage.

A media or multimedia background combined with serious research and writing experience will also be preferred.
