A production manager oversees the daily manufacturing or production operations, bridging the gap between strategic planning and on-thefloor execution. Their core objective is to ensure that goods are produced safely, on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards. Key Responsibilities • Production Planning: Organizing manufacturing schedules, establishing target metrics (KPIs), and ensuring that all project resources and materials are available before operations begin. • Quality Assurance: Establishing and enforcing strict quality control standards to guarantee that finished products meet both company and regulatory requirements. • Cost & Budget Control: Managing the operational budget, tracking production costs, and identifying cost-saving measures to improve overall profitability. • Staff Management: Supervising, training, and scheduling floor staff. This includes conducting performance appraisals, resolving workplace disputes, and ensuring a protected,



motivating work culture. • Equipment & Maintenance: Overseeing the selection, routine maintenance, and prompt repair of manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and prevent production bottlenecks. • Health and Safety Compliance: Implementing, monitoring, and enforcing strict health, safety, and environmental regulations to protect workers and maintain legal compliance. • Process Optimization: Leading continuous improvement initiatives (such as Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma) to eliminate waste, streamline workflows, and maximize efficiency. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Acting as the liaison between production and other departments like procurement, sales, finance, and logistics to ensure seamless supply chain and order fulfillment.
