As a Pre-Editor, you will serve as the crucial first line of quality control in our publishing workflow. You will be responsible for preparing, structuring, and scrubbing incoming academic manuscripts, scientific journals, and book chapters before they advance to heavy language copyediting and typesetting.This role requires a meticulous eye for detail, strong English grammar fundamentals, and proficiency with content-editing tools.

Key Responsibilities

Manuscript Assessment & Preparation: Clean, format, and structure raw manuscript files (Word, LaTeX) using automated macros and in-house publishing tools.

Reference & Citation Checking:Cross-check and validate all in-text citations against the reference list for completeness, accuracy, and sequence.

Style & Spec Enforcement: Apply client-specific house styles, typographical conventions, and publisher guidelines (APA, Chicago, AMA, CSE)

Basic Language & Pre-Screening:Fix baseline typographical errors, mechanical issues, and obvious grammatical inconsistencies while preserving author voice.

Asset Verification: Verify that all figures, tables, chemical structures, and equations match in-text callouts and meet resolution standards.

Author Query Generation: Identify missing content, broken references, or ambiguous statements and flag precise, skilled queries for the author or language editor.

SLA & Productivity:Consistently meet daily target turnarounds while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.

Key Tech Stack & Skills required:

Grammar & Language:Strong command of written English, vocabulary, and punctuation rules.

Tech Literacy:Proficiency in MS Word (track changes, basic macros), MS Excel, and digital manuscript tools.

Attention to Detail: Excellent proofreading skills with an eye for subtle consistency errors.

Adaptability:Willingness to work in rotational shifts to support global publishing clients.
