JOB Title: Process Team Lead for Assembly

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Assembly & Tooling Design Engineer to lead process design, DFM reviews, and shop-floor automation. In this role, you will design custom fixtures, develop detailed SOIs/SOPs, and optimize assembly lines to drive high throughput while maintaining strict compliance with AS9100 and aerospace quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly Process & DFM Design: Lead Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews for complex aerospace structures, mechanical subsystems, and electrical integration.
- Tooling & Automation: Conceptualize, review, and deploy custom assembly fixtures, jigs, handling equipment, and semi-automated/automated assembly solutions.
- Work Instructions (SOIs/SOPs): Author and maintain clear, visual Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manual and automated operations.
- Quality & Compliance: Drive PFMEA execution, establish Statistical Process Control (SPC) parameters, and ensure full compliance with AS9100 quality management standards.
- First Article Inspection: Oversee and validate AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) for recent tooling, builds, and major engineering changes.
- Shop-Floor Support: Hands-on integration of tooling on the shop floor, troubleshooting line bottlenecks, and training assembly technicians on high-precision hand tools and automated equipment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelors degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
- Core Expertise: Hands-on experience with aerospace structural/mechanical assembly, custom tooling design reviews, and shop-floor manufacturing execution.
- Technical Standards: Deep knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 (FAIR), PFMEA, and SPC.
- CAD/CAM Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE, NX, or SolidWorks) for tooling design and digital mockup (DMU) reviews.
- Practical Knowledge: Familiarities with precision measurement instruments, torque standards, aerospace fasteners, drill jigs, and ergonomics.
