Role summary
Provakil builds software that helps big companies manage their contracts, from drafting to signing. Before any contract template goes live for a client, it comes to you first. Your job is to make sure everything in it is set up correctly - the right information (like party names, contract dates, etc) is in the right place, and nothing is missing or mismatched.
This is a detail-focused, process-driven role. You will follow a clear, step-by-step checklist every time, keep a record of what you have reviewed, tell the template team exactly what needs fixing, and work closely with the tech team so that nothing goes live until it is fully checked. It is a great fit for someone who genuinely enjoys getting the small details of a document exactly right, because in contracts, a small mistake can turn into a real legal or financial problem for a client.
Why this is a great opportunity
You will work closely with experienced legal and technology professionals at one of India's fastest-growing legal-tech companies, trusted by 300+ businesses including Fortune 500 companies and government organisations. Legal-tech is still a new and fast-growing space, and this role gives you hands-on experience with AI-powered contract software - a skill set that is increasingly valuable and still rare among legal professionals. It is a strong foundation to grow into bigger legal operations, compliance, or product roles down the line.
What youll do
Checking contract templates
- Check every new or updated contract template against our standard checklist of fields, following our step-by-step review process from start to finish.
- Double-check field names, categories, and the type of information in each field (like text, date, or amount) so everything is accurate and consistent - even one wrong field counts as an error.
- Keep a clear log of every template you review - what passed, what didn't, and why.
- If a template isn't ready, send it back to the tech team with clear, specific feedback - exactly what's wrong, where, and what it should say instead.
- Once it's been fixed, check it again from scratch.
Handling special requests and flagging issues
- If a template needs a field that isn't part of our standard checklist, pass that request on to the Product team for review.
- Once a new field is officially approved and added, re-check any templates that were waiting on it.
- If you keep noticing the same kind of mistake across different templates,
flag it to the Legal Operations team - this helps fix the root cause and improves future templates.
Working with the team
- Partner with the tech team to make sure only fully-checked templates go live for clients.
- Coordinate with the teams building the templates on deadlines, fixes, and re-checks.
- Keep your turnaround time steady and predictable - the teams setting up a client's contracts are counting on you.
Supporting the wider team
- Help out with other quality checks in Legal Operations - for example, reviewing auto-generated contract summaries or checking that workflows are documented properly.
- If you spot a recurring pattern in errors, suggest ways to improve our review process.
- Help bring new types of contracts onto the platform as the company and client base grow.
What success looks like in your first 60 days
First 30 days
- Get fully onboarded and understand how Provakil's contract software works - how templates are built, how fields are set up, and what our standard checklist covers.
- Learn our step-by-step review process in detail - every step, every decision point, and when to raise something to someone else.
- Watch how the current process works - how templates get submitted, reviewed, fixed, and approved.
- Start checking templates yourself, with your work double-checked by the team.
- Get familiar with common contract types (like NDAs and service agreements) and the information they usually contain.
Days 31-60
- Start checking templates on your own - your work should be trusted without anyone needing to double-check it.
- Keep your review log accurate and up to date for everything you check.
- Handle your first case of sending a template back for fixes, with feedback explicit enough that the tech team doesn't need to ask follow-up questions.
- Correctly raise your first request for a new field, following the right process.
What you need to bring
- A law degree (LLB) or a recognised paralegal certification/diploma.
- 1-3 years of experience as a paralegal, legal analyst,
or contracts coordinator - you've worked with commercial contracts and understand how they're put together.
- A good working understanding of common contract types (like NDAs, service agreements, and commercial agreements) and what information they usually contain - parties, dates, payment terms, scope of work, governing law.
- Excellent attention to detail - you can spot a single wrong field name or mismatched detail in a long document without losing focus.
- A structured, checklist-based approach to repetitive detail-checking work.
- Clear written communication - your feedback should be specific and leave no room for confusion.
- Good judgement on when to flag something to someone else versus when to sort it out yourself.
- Comfort working inside an easy-to-use software tool - no coding involved, even without a technical background. You'll be working inside a platform, not in Word documents.
Good to have
- Previous experience with contract management software or similar document tools.
- Familiarity with contract templates, reusable clauses, or auto-filled document fields.
- Awareness of data privacy rules that apply to contracts, such as India's DPDP data protection law.
- Experience working in a legal-tech or legal operations team.
What you'll learn in this role
- How large companies manage contracts from start to finish - you'll see the whole journey, from building a template to a fully signed contract, and how technology now automates work legal teams used to do by hand.
- How to run quality checks in a legal-tech environment - a skill that carries over well into legal operations, compliance, and regulatory roles across many industries.
- How AI-powered contract software is built and maintained for large clients - a specialised, increasingly in-demand skill in the legal operations field.
