- Create and edit CNC/VMC programs using G-code and M-code.
- Read and understand mechanical engineering drawings and GD&T.;
- Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, speeds, and feeds.
- Set tool offsets, work offsets, and machine parameters.
- Operate and prove out programs on VMC machines.
- Perform first-piece inspection and make program corrections.
- Reduce machining time and improve productivity.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, dimensional, and surface-finish issues.
- Work with the Production, Quality, and Tooling teams.
- Maintain machining programs and process documentation.
- Follow safety and quality procedures.
Skills usually required
- VMC/CNC machine operation and programming
- Fanuc/Siemens/Mitsubishi controls
- G-code & M-code
- AutoCAD/SolidWorks or similar CAD knowledge
- CAM software such as Mastercam
- Drawing reading and GD&T;
- Measuring instruments: Vernier, micrometer, height gauge, etc.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and machining processes
Typical qualification ITI / Diploma / BE – Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing, depending on the company and experience.
