Our team is responsible for building and evolving the enterprise API Gateway platform on AWS, providing secure, scalable, and innovative capabilities that support both traditional API protocols and emerging AI technologies. Working with a product mindset, we partner with engineering teams across Macquarie to deliver a seamless self-service platform experience that enables developers to build, integrate, and innovate with speed and confidence.
We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.
What role will you play?
In this role, you will design, deploy, and operate internal and external API Gateway platforms, with deep hands-on ownership of Solo.io products, including routing, traffic management, transformations, rate limiting, and authentication/authorization. You will configure and manage API Gateways on Kubernetes, covering control plane setup, Envoy data plane optimization, Gateway API integration, and platform lifecycle management. You will also architect and deliver platform engineering capabilities on AWS EKS, including cluster provisioning, networking, autoscaling, service mesh implementation, and workload onboarding.
What You Offer
- Deep expertise in API gateways and API management, including Envoy, REST/gRPC, OpenAPI/AsyncAPI, authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS), and API security best practices.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based API gateway platforms, particularly Solo.io Gloo,
with exposure to other gateway solutions such as Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, or Tyk considered advantageous.
- Proven platform engineering experience on AWS EKS, including Kubernetes operations, Terraform, Helm, GitOps tooling (ArgoCD/Flux), IAM, and VPC networking.
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD and developer platforms, with a focus on self-service capabilities, GitOps practices, and automation using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Infrastructure-as-Code and automation mindset, with proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash, and practical knowledge of API governance frameworks, standards, and tooling;
experience with Gloo Mesh/Gloo Platform is a plus.
We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us, if you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie we encourage you to apply.
