The institution has also built one of the country’s strongest student startup ecosystems, with 10+ students pitching on Shark Tank India and 20+ students raising external funding for their ventures, alongside several successful creators and internet entrepreneurs.
About the Role
As the Trainer for the Counselling team, you will own how our counsellors show up in every student conversation. Counsellors are a student’s first meaningful window into Our Client , the people who help prospective students and their families understand the institution and confidently take the next step in their application journey. Your job is to make sure every counsellor is equipped, sharp and consistent in those conversations. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role centred on capability building and quality. You will train new joiners, continuously re-train and sharpen experienced members, assess the quality of every conversation,
and personally hand-hold those who need the most support to bring them up to standard. The role is dynamic by nature , priorities shift with intake cycles, team needs and individual performance , and calls for someone who can move quickly between coaching, assessment and feedback without losing the quality bar.
If you love developing people, raising standards, and seeing others succeed because of how you coached them, this role is for you.
Role Expectations
- Train the Team on the Craft of the Conversation
- Design and deliver structured training on how counsellors engage students and families , how to open a conversation, understand a student’s aspirations, communicate the Our Client story with clarity and conviction, address concerns and objections, and guide students confidently toward the next step in their application.
- Build and maintain a practical training toolkit , pitch frameworks, talk-tracks, objection-handling guides, FAQs and role-play scenarios , and keep it current as the institution and its offerings evolve.
- Run regular role-plays, mock conversations and practice sessions so every counsellor can apply what they learn in real student interactions.
- Own Onboarding, Training & Continuous Re-Training
- Take full ownership of training across the entire team , both new joiners and experienced members , ensuring everyone is brought to, and kept at, a high and consistent standard.
- Run ongoing refresher and re-training programs for existing members to correct drift, introduce improvements, and keep the whole team sharp as expectations and messaging change.
- Quality Assessment & Monitoring
- Assess the quality of counsellor conversations through call and interaction reviews, evaluated against clear, well-defined quality parameters.
- Identify gaps in knowledge, approach or communication, and translate what you observe into specific, actionable coaching for each counsellor.
- Track quality trends across the team over time and use them to shape training priorities and continuously raise the overall standard.
- Hand-Hold & Uplift Bottom Performers
- Take personal ownership of the team’s bottom performers , diagnosing where each of them is struggling and building tailored, hands-on improvement plans.
- Provide close, patient, one-on-one support , shadowing, live feedback and repeated practice , to bring them up to standard and help them rebuild confidence.
- Track their progress closely and stay with them until improvement is visible and sustained.
- Partner with Team Leaders on Continuous Feedback
- Work closely with Team Leaders, giving them regular, specific feedback on the performance and development needs of each of their team members.
- Share transparent observations and recommendations so TLs can reinforce training on the floor and support their teams day to day.
- Build a tight, two-way feedback loop with TLs so coaching, quality and on-ground management stay aligned and consistent.
Ideal Candidate
- Prior experience in a trainer role, with a proven ability to build capability and improve how a student-facing or customer-facing team performs in conversations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the presence and clarity to be a credible role model for the team.
- Well-presented and professional , someone counsellors naturally look to and learn from.
- Strong coaching instincts , able to observe a conversation, pinpoint exactly what to improve, and give feedback people can act on.
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-changing environment, moving fluidly between training, assessment, coaching and feedback.
- A genuine interest in developing people and taking ownership of their growth and success.
What you can expect in return
- A high-ownership role with direct impact on the quality and success of a large, student-facing team.
- The autonomy to build and shape the training and quality function from the front.
- Exposure to a world-class leadership ecosystem of founders, CEOs, investors and policymakers.
- The chance to directly shape how thousands of students experience their first conversations with Our Client.
Why This Role Matters
For many students, a counsellor is their first real conversation with Our Client , the moment a name becomes a place they can picture their future in. How well that conversation goes depends on how well the counsellor has been trained. As the Trainer for the Counselling team, you are the person who builds that capability. Every counsellor you train, every conversation you sharpen and every performer you lift contributes to a better student experience , and to building the next generation of the Our Client community.
If you love developing people, raising standards and creating real impact, we would love to hear from you.
