Trailer Mechanic

Location: Talegaon Sate Depot

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Trailer Mechanic to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair trailers used for transportation and heavy equipment movement. The role is responsible for ensuring trailer safety, reliability, and compliance with company and statutory standards while minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of trailers.

- Inspect trailer chassis, suspension systems, brakes, axles, wheel bearings, landing gears, and couplings.

- Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical faults.

- Repair or replace damaged trailer components and assemblies.

- Conduct welding, fabrication, and structural repair work when required.

- Inspect and maintain air brake systems and lighting circuits.

- Ensure trailers meet all safety and roadworthiness requirements.

- Maintain service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.

- Coordinate with operations teams to ensure timely trailer availability.

- Follow company safety procedures and housekeeping standards.

- Support emergency roadside breakdown repairs when required.

Required Skills & Competencies





- Robust knowledge of trailer mechanical systems.

- Knowledge of air brake systems, suspension systems, and axles.

- Ability to read technical manuals and maintenance instructions.

- Basic welding and fabrication skills.

- Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

- Awareness of safety and quality standards.

- Good communication and teamwork skills.

Educational Qualification

- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Diesel Mechanic, or related trade.

Experience

- 3-8 years of experience in trailer maintenance, commercial vehicle maintenance, or heavy equipment fleet workshops.

- Experience with low-bed, flatbed, hydraulic axle, and specialised transport trailers preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in heavy haulage, crane, or logistics industry.

- Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems.

- Valid driving licence for commercial vehicles will be an added advantage.
