Role Objective To lead and control end-to-end logistics operations with robust focus on cost optimization, freight management, billing accuracy, commercial governance, statutory compliance, and financial control of logistics spend across the network.

Key Responsibilities

1. Logistics Cost Management

- Own logistics P&L; including freight, warehousing, manpower, handling, and secondary distribution.

- Monitor cost per unit / per kg / per shipment and drive YoY cost reduction.

- Implement route optimization and load utilization improvements.

- Negotiate freight contracts, rate cards, and annual agreements with transporters & 3PLs.

- Identify cost leakages and implement corrective controls.

2. Freight & Billing Governance

- Validate transporter and 3PL invoices against agreed rate cards and SLAs.

- Ensure billing accuracy in freight, warehousing, reverse logistics, and penalty calculations.

- Drive automated billing reconciliation through WMS/ERP integration.

- Monitor debit notes, credit notes, detention charges, and claim settlements.

- Ensure zero revenue leakage and prevent duplicate or excess billing.

- Coordinate with finance for accruals, provisioning, and monthly closures.

3. Warehouse & Distribution Control

- Monitor warehouse commercial contracts (rent, handling charges, manpower cost).

- Track cost per dispatch, cost per line item, and productivity benchmarks.

- Control inventory carrying cost and reduce aging stock impact.

- Ensure shrinkage,



damages, and write-offs remain within defined thresholds.

4. Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure statutory compliance: GST documentation, E-way bills, transporter compliance.

- Maintain audit readiness for internal and external audits.

- Monitor adherence to contractual SLAs and compliance clauses.

- Implement SOPs for billing control and documentation management.

- Ensure safety, regulatory, and insurance compliance across warehouses.

5. MIS & Financial Reporting

- Publish monthly logistics cost dashboards:
- Freight cost as % of revenue

- Cost per shipment

- Warehouse cost per unit

- Billing accuracy %

- Claim recovery %

- Drive data-backed decision-making for cost optimization.

- Support leadership with budgeting and forecasting of logistics spend.

Experience & Skills Required

- 12–15+ years in logistics operations with strong exposure to cost and commercial control

- Deep understanding of freight rate structures and contract management

- Experience in invoice validation and ERP/WMS billing systems

- Strong financial acumen and coordination with finance teams

- Audit and compliance exposure

- Advanced Excel / MIS / data analytics capability
