Role Overview The Student Affairs Officer will be responsible for creating a positive, supportive, and engaging student experience across the campus. The role will act as a key link between students, faculty, academic leadership, parents, and other institutional teams, with a strong focus on student wellbeing, engagement, behaviour, grievance handling, and overall student development. The ideal candidate should have a background in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a closely related field, along with 3–5 years of experience in student affairs, counselling, education, youth development, student support, or a similar environment.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Wellbeing
- Serve as a first point of contact for students requiring support on personal, behavioural, emotional, or campus-related concerns.
- Build strong relationships with students and create an approachable and supportive environment.
- Identify students who may require additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions with qualified counsellors or relevant professionals.
- Conduct regular student check-ins and follow up on identified concerns until appropriate closure.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries while handling sensitive student matters.
Student Engagement & Development
- Plan and coordinate student engagement initiatives, clubs, activities, events, and campus-life programs.
- Encourage student participation in leadership, cultural, social, and developmental activities.
- Support student-led clubs, committees, competitions, and initiatives.
- Work with faculty and academic teams to promote holistic student development beyond the classroom.
- Support orientation, induction, transition, and student engagement programs.
Grievance Handling & Student Relations
- Act as a point of contact for student grievances and concerns, ensuring they are documented, addressed, and escalated appropriately.
- Coordinate with academic, administrative, hostel, transport,
security, and other teams to resolve student-related issues.
- Handle difficult student situations with empathy, maturity, and sound judgement.
- Support disciplinary processes in line with institutional policies and maintain appropriate records.
- Coordinate with parents/guardians when required and support constructive communication between students and the institution.
Student Monitoring & Records
- Monitor student attendance, participation, conduct, and engagement indicators to identify emerging concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of student cases, interventions, grievances, activities, and follow-ups.
- Prepare periodic student affairs reports and highlight key trends, concerns, and action points to academic leadership.
- Track cases and interventions to ensure timely follow-up and appropriate closure.
Coordination & Institutional Support
- Collaborate closely with Academic Coordinators, Faculty, Academic Coaches, and other departments on student-related matters.
- Support institutional events, orientations, workshops, awareness sessions, and student development initiatives.
- Assist in implementing student policies, code of conduct, campus discipline, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, respectful, and learner-centric campus environment.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Master's degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Applied Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a relevant field. A Psychology background is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in student affairs, counselling, higher education, school/college administration, youth development, student support, or a similar role.
- Experience working directly with young adults/students in an educational or institutional environment is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional maturity, empathy, and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
- Good communication and conflict-resolution skills,
with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, and management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in student-related matters.
