Job Title: Steward – Corporate Cafeteria
Department: Food & Beverage / Cafeteria Operations
Reports To: Cafeteria Supervisor / Facility Manager / F&B; Manager
Will Provide Accomodation Also
Job Summary:
The Steward will support daily cafeteria operations by maintaining hygiene, cleanliness, and organization of the kitchen, dining area, and equipment, ensuring a smooth dining experience for employees within corporate meal-service timelines. The role also includes serving food and beverages in meeting rooms/conference areas as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash and sanitize crockery, cutlery, trays, and cooking utensils using dishwashing machines/manual methods
- Maintain cleanliness of the cafeteria floor, dining tables, counters, and service areas throughout the day
- Ensure timely replenishment of clean plates, glasses, and cutlery during breakfast/lunch/dinner rush hours
- Serve food, tea, and coffee in meeting rooms/boardrooms as per scheduled bookings, ensuring timely and presentable service
- Set up and clear meeting room refreshment counters, including trays, cups, and snacks
- Assist kitchen staff with transporting food trolleys, ingredients, and supplies between kitchen and serving counters
- Segregate waste (wet/dry/food waste) as per facility and statutory guidelines
- Maintain and organize the crockery/cutlery store and kitchen equipment storage area
- Follow FSSAI/food safety and hygiene standards applicable to corporate food service
- Support setup and breakdown of buffet counters, self-service stations, and beverage counters
- Report equipment breakdowns (dishwasher, hot cases, refrigeration units) to supervisor immediately
- Assist with daily/weekly stock checks of consumables (napkins, disposables, cleaning agents)
- Coordinate with housekeeping for deep-cleaning schedules of cafeteria premises
- Adhere to grooming, uniform, and hygiene standards expected in a corporate environment
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification: 10th/12th pass
- 0–2 years of experience in institutional/corporate catering, hotel, or restaurant stewarding
- Prior experience serving food and coffee/tea in meetings, boardrooms, or corporate events is required
- Familiarity with high-volume food service operations preferred
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation norms
- Ability to work single shift (typically day shift, aligned with corporate working hours) with occasional overtime during events
- Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks
Key Skills:
- Speed and efficiency during peak meal hours
- Skilled and presentable service etiquette for meeting/boardroom settings
- Attention to hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Team coordination with chefs, service staff, and supervisors
- Basic communication skills (English/Hindi as per corporate location)
Work Environment:
- Corporate campus cafeteria, generally single-shift (unlike hotel stewarding which may involve rotational/night shifts)
- Structured meal timings (breakfast, lunch, evening snacks) rather than continuous service hours
- Exposure to kitchen heat, water, and cleaning agents
