About The Role

We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, optimizing, and maintaining robust database solutions that support our applications and analytics platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of PostgreSQL and a strong foundation in SQL fundamentals applicable across relational databases and modern data warehouses.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for writing efficient, scalable queries, diagnosing performance issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure database excellence.

This position offers an opportunity to work on challenging projects that influence critical business decisions and product development. You will play a key role in enhancing our data infrastructure, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability of our database systems. The role demands a proactive problem-solver with excellent analytical skills and a passion for optimizing data workflows.





Qualifications

- Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience as a SQL Developer or in a similar role involving database design and optimization.
- Extensive expertise in PostgreSQL, with practical knowledge of SQL as applied to other RDBMSs and data warehouses such as MySQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
- Deep understanding of query performance factors including indexing strategies, execution plans, query planning, and optimizer behavior.
- Proven ability to analyze, rewrite, and optimize nested queries and subqueries for improved performance.
- Solid grasp of core database concepts such as normalization, indexing techniques (B-tree, composite, partial, covering indexes), locking mechanisms, transactions, and isolation levels.
- Experience using EXPLAIN/EXPLAIN ANALYZE or equivalent tools to diagnose and resolve slow queries.
- Familiarity with database monitoring and query profiling tools to maintain optimal database performance.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to support various applications and analytics needs.
- Analyze query performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate indexing strategies based on query patterns, including usage of WHERE and JOIN clauses.
- Review and refactor nested queries and subqueries, employing alternatives such as CTEs,



joins, or window functions to improve maintainability and performance.
- Collaborate closely with backend engineers and data teams to design efficient database schemas that align with application requirements.
- Monitor production database performance, troubleshoot slow-running queries, and implement solutions to mitigate issues.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database design decisions, query optimization techniques, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency across the team.
